1 week of numbness and weird sensations :(

Its been a week now since I first started having this damn weird right sided pins and needles and numbness. Running down my head to my arm and hand and even my peripheral vision on the right side seems a bit messed up.

I haven’t been doing anything differently that I can think of and am wondering if I am having constant silent migraines (without head pain). I have had quite a bit of head pressure lately aswell so wondering if it could be linked to the weather or something.

I never thought i’d hear myself say this, but right now I actually would prefer the dizziness… arghhhh :frowning:

Could it be anything to do with the nori and would it be worth trying to increase your dose just to see if it helps these feelings or makes them worse? x

I’ve wondered the same Jem. I’ve been on nori at 10mg now for around 8 weeks, so it would be strange for my symptoms to suddenly change like this i guess? although I have also been having a bit of breathing difficulty also in the past week so wonder if that is linked. I was laying in bed last night and each time I took a deep breath I felt pain in my chest. I know Nori can affect your heart so possibly linked.

I am waiting on a call back from Dr Surenthirans PA for a telephone consultation so hope its soon because I really want to discuss this with him

I’ve just read the Nori side effects and it lists numbness, chest pain etc… Is it possible to have these side effects after 8 weeks at the same dose though? I am wondering whether I should stop the medication!

Yes good idea, I would probably wait and ask Dr S about it. He has so many people on nori he should know the typical side effects or the ones to watch for. Sometimes meds can affect you more after they have built up in your system for a while. They say antidepressants can take 5 weeks to work, although like you say, 8 weeks is quite a long time for the problems to start. I had some quite bad shortness of breath for the first few weeks on nori and my heart was racing intermittently for the first few months. I kept worrying that I would need to stop taking it but I stuck with it and it wore off. Dose increases after 10mg seemed to be ok until I got to 35mg and I can’t really tolerate much higher than that. The only thing I have now is that the circulation in my feet, which was always bad, has gone really bad on nori. But I can live with that. Hope you get it sorted x

Richy, I too suffer with weird sensations. On the side of my head I get ‘vibrations’ it’s feels as though I am walking through cobwebs sometimes too! I also get tingly patches on hands and an almost numb patch on the side of my face. These symptoms come & go, I have mentioned them to dr s , the tingling was a real problem for me at one point it has died down since I got higher on the nori. He said the facial numbness was not a worry if it went away which it does , it all comes & goes. I’m never sure if it’s the nori or the migraine. I believe that this vm has a course to run & it’s as though we all have tO experience these weird things. Does that make sense? X

It does make sense in a way Anna. Its a weird old condition thats for sure. As I am so low on Nori (only 10mg) I am going to come off it and see if it helps. I can always go back on again with no problems if not. Will speak with Dr S aswell.

I am just surprised ive seen no change in a week with this sensation

Richy, I get numb feet as a side effect of nori. It didn’t show up until I had been on the drugs a while. I wonder was it always there & I never noticed and the dizzy was the main symptom or was it a new thing? I’m never sure? ! X

From ewhat i’ve heard numbness is a form of migraine, so i’d say you need to slowly keep upping your dose of nori… try and increase to 15 for a couple of weeks xx

10 mg I s a very low dose. You need to get to 40-60mg before you start to notice major improvements

This sounds like migraine to me . Are you on the diet and lifestyle changes Richy?

Hi Hillsta,

I am following the diet and try to keep to the lifestyle changes as much as physically possible. I don’t think the weather helps here in Switzerland, its always changing due to the mountains we are surrounded by so that could have an influence on my symptoms but this is the first time I have had this numbness since this MAV episode started. Are you taking Nori?

Hi Richy

Yes weather change can be a trigger for some but in my opinion you need to be on higher dose of medication. If you can’t up Nort due to side effects then you need to ask your doctor for another med. Yes I am on Nort i am on 70mg. I started at 10mg and increased by 10 every two weeks. The side effects eased off after a couple of weeks. I am afraid all the meds seem to have some kind of side effect and its never nice increasing them but it’s worth it in the long run.

Nort is doc’s favourite because it helps with peoples moods as well

So you don’t think 10mg of Nort could be causing the numbness on my right side? I was wondering myself, as it is so low that it probably isnt causing that.

I have found a mood benefit from Nort I must admit. that is why I have stayed on it so long

the first time i tried nori, it made both my feet feel like they were constantly asleep. i was on 10 mg for about 6 weeks and it didnt go away- i mean i basically couldnt feel the ground- so i decided to stop it. at about 4 weeks i noticed it started to help my vision symptoms. unfortunately when i went to try it again it didnt work as well- not touching my visual symptoms- but this time it didnt make my feet fall asleep. it sucks because i wonder if i could have tolerated it the first time if it would have helped my balance…but having your feet constantly asleep is ridiculous. if i were you i would try and stay on it and go up on the dose- the side effect might go away or else the benefits could be worth it…

Sarah thanks for your response. How soon after taking it did you get that side effect? I’ve been on it for around 8 weeks and this symptom has only just started so really wondering if it is the nori or not

Richy , it took time for me to notice my feel were numb. It certainly wasn’t instant x

Nortriptyline is a vasoconstrictor which means it constricts the blood vessels. I don’t get the tingly or numb feet but my feet are always purple since I have been on it!
