My PC doc said take 10mg until I feel comfortable and then move to 20mg a night. I’ve been on 10mg a night for 6 days and I’ve felt a change in my mental clarity, but yet with some “dream state” feeling. Improvement in dizziness has been minimal. What has been your experience with Amitriptyline dosage related to dizziness improvement?
Hi Adam,
i am on this drug too, i have been taking it for over a week now, my doctor said to have 10 mg for 2 weeks then increase it to 20 mg for two weeks and keep upping it until I get the desired effect. With me that is to stop the constant headaches and make me think a bit clearer.
So far it hasn’t stopped the headaches but these tablets take 2-3 weeks to work so you have to give a bit longer to see. I did notice that it has cleared my mind a bit (brain fog) but my vision and balance is still slightly off… am hoping this changes with time!
Good luck!
Lou
Hi Adam,
I have been taking Amitriptyline (reluctantly to start with) for about 3 years to alleviate Migrain and consequently vertigo. I built it up from 10mg before bed to 60mg over a month or so (but that is still considered a maintenance dose).
I do experience some side effects such as dry mouth, numb fingers etc. But the good news is that it seems to help a lot. I have been suffering from balance problems for over 20 years, I am now 58. I have also been doing daily balance exercises for the last 5 years. I find that an occasional recognisable migraine does not cause me too many balance problems but a clustre of migrains do. The Amitriptyline seems to stop the clusters for me.
Good Luck
Robert
