Ami switch to Nortrip

Oh wow Alex! I did not have sleep issues with the switch, but I can say that I’ve never slept as well (in my whole life) as I did while on Ami. I do sleep well enough with Nort but “Ami sleep” is a class of its own for sure. I can see why Drs actually prescribe it for people with sleep disorders.
Take care!

I actually just switched from 30mg Ami to 40mg Nort 2 days ago. So far so good, although I do feel slightly off today with a little more of the trampoline floor feeling. I have been on Ami in the past and it worked great, had a relapse last year and got back on it. I have been feeling pretty good, but the weight gain is really bothering me. @Naejohn did nort seem to help combat with the weight gain?

Hey Reneè!

Thank you for your reply lovely!
Spoke with the Neuro and he said he doesn’t think the Amitriptyline is causing my tight chest, palpitations and high heart rate. He things it’s anxiety as we spoke about what’s been happening recently. It would make sense as I’ve had a ECG and cardiac bloods which all came back normal. I’m definitely anxious with it all plus other stress unrelated to MAV. He also said it could be POTs and the autonomic side of migraine that can cause higher heart rate. It’s hard to decide what to do but I’m going to speak to the GP tomorrow about maybe going on some anxiety meds. I can’t manage feeling this stressed for ever it’s not helping anything.

Hope you’re well my friend :two_hearts::sparkling_heart:

Hi Lisa,
I hope your day improves! :sparkling_heart:

The primary reason for my switch to Nort was the weight gain of Ami, my Dr stated that Nort was considered more weight “neutral”. I would agree with that statement since I have not lost the weight I gained on Ami but I did stop gaining when I switched to Nort (Praise God!)! :raised_hands:t4:

All in, I have gained one dress size over the 3 years that I have had VM. So, if that’s all I can complain about in return for having my life back… I’m good! :dancer:t4:

I’m healthy and happy again, that’s what I wish for you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Oh my friend Kirsty,
These things are so tough to know… so many of our symptoms sometimes overlap and some may be cause, some may be affect and others may be unrelated altogether!

It will be interesting to hear what your GP thinks also. Glad you’re being calculating with the decision-making. You have come so far, even though at times I know it feels like you have started fresh.

I think it is completely natural to have an extraordinary amount of anxiety with VM, who wouldn’t!?!?!?! But if you have additional stressors on top of VM anxiety; it definitely could be hindering your progress.

Please do let us know what the GP says and what you decide to do.
Here to support you always :two_hearts:  :two_hearts:
