Dr Nicholas Silver talk: Migraine Action AGM 2009

thanks for the update Scott. I guess we’d all like to have that silver bullet experience, but I guess an incremental improvement is better than none at all. And I’m guessing less joint stiffness is a bonus.

Agreed re the pain meds and pain thing. It’s counter-intuitive isn’t it? Did you see that recent 4 corners on prescription pain meds (oxycontin etc )? That was eye-opening.

Yeah, I did. I had no idea there were so many junkies walking around on that stuff! A real eye-opener.

I think the painkiller thing is also that they reduce the effectiveness of the preventatives, and that by stopping/reducing our use of them we might have more success with the anticonvulsants/antidepressants etc etc that we’re taking. It was likened to “trying to drive with the brakes on”…

Don’t mean to reanimate an old topic, but I hoped to listen to this talk, and at least on my computer the link doesn’t work. I wonder if anyone has a copy of it? Thanks!

In a word, No. There’s a lot of those older links no longer work unfortunately. Multitude of reasons for sure. I do like Dr Silver. To avoid too much disappointment do try his Non-Headache presentations of migraine lecture presented to Parliament on 5th July 2011. You should find that on the UK fibromyalgia.com website. Apologies I cannot link from this tablet at present for some reason. Perhaps it doesn’t work week-ends😄.

And here’s another one Dr Silver must have had a big hand in because it’s come straight out of the same kennel. (Ah little Android links sometimes, bless)

Actually, I’ll try to find the media and revert if I can fix the links.

Links fixed. The audio can now be played within the web page.

NB to all, if you find any broken link on the site that you are particularly interested in @ me on the Topic and I’ll try to fix it.
