I got a hold of 75mg capsules of Effexor at the weekend and took my first dose last night. I think I may have taken too much as I feel very surreal today (sketchy, nervous, like I’m on the moon). Its the same odd reaction I had with Ami and Lexapro ( I stopped them both), but I really want to give Effexor a good go, but cant be feeling like this when in Burma and travelling.
How do you divide up 75mg capsules? I meant to take a 3rd of 37.5mg to start with, but having trouble dividing the capsules. Is there some ingenious way to do this? I didnt realise you could get 37.5mg capsules.
Do you think it would be better to wait and get the 37.5mg capsules? Seems like quite a pain to do with 75mg capsules.
Thanks for your help. I really want to give this med a good go as I’m running out of one’s to try!
Yeah, probably better if you grab 37.5 mg. I can’t believe you knocked back 75 mg off the bat! Wow. lol. I used to work out how many beads were in a capsule and then tip out what I needed. About 14 beads for me in a 37.5 mg capsule was all I could handle. It’s a real pain though having to count them all the time.
Burma is pretty interesting to say the least - a fine example of impressive British colonial architecture!
I think I only knocked back 37.5mg to be fair - its a real hassle to work out the damn beads. I will have to buy some 37.5mg capsules if I can find them in Bangkok (not sure if they sell that size) as the 75mg is a nightmare. Its a pity as I spent $AU 80 on the damn things!
Either that or I wait until I see Hain in August and follow his direction. But thats 2 1/2 months away - another 2 1/2 months of dizziness misery - so think I will push on.
I got the 75mg XR tablets. I ended up opening up the capsule and counting all the beads and then doing the maths to take 12mg. It drove me mad doing it but I couldn’t get the 37.5 mg tablets in England so had no choice. If you can get the 37.5mg XR tablets and count the beads out I’d do that.
Hain recommends starting with 12mg and then titrating up weekly. I wouldn’t jump in the deep end with a larger dose, with effexor slow and cautious seems to be the way.
How much do I envy you travelling around the world. What a blast.
