If your neurologist doesn’t understand MAV then see a neuro otologist, or an otoneurologist - these are specialists who deal why the balance centre/brain. I saw two neurologists who didn’t understand the condition at all - both were pretty useless other than telling me I didn’t have a tumour.
CBT will help if the condition makes you anxious/depressed - but not necessarily a psychiatrist. You can find a registered CBT practitioner quite easily.
I had about 13 incorrect diagnoses, all of which I knew were incorrect, until my hunch was confirmed by dr Surenthiran, a leading neuro otologist, to whom I self referred.
Don’t let misguided doctors make you feel like you are imagining it - it’s a physiological condition for which you need the right specialist help.
Go see a neuro otologist who specialises in MAV
