Well, I only take the nausea drugs when I really need them so the only drug I take daily is Ami. I take Cinnarizine very occasionally these days as I try get through it even when it peaks
When I saw her last I was having some good days and told her that I was significantly better than I was at xmas on the 20mg dose. She agreed that I should stay here for a little longer before I increase as I am far hungrier these days! I am conscious of my weight so am keeping a close eye on that! If I dont improve much when botox settles down I have no qualms increasing it at all. I can just email her to let her know. Today has been significantly better by lunchtime!
I certainly think the antihistamine really took the edge off my hayfever and allowed things to settle down - hardly any crackling today
Well, howās the nose? Strangely enough mine was 100% perfect yesterday which meant so was my balance surprising as I was out walking amidst white blossom everywhere (hawthorn locally know as āMayā blossom, rowan and sloe (blackthorn) like snow, and not as much as a snuffle. What Iāve always noticed since MAV made me hyper to pollen the smell of blossom appears to have increased ten fold. It was really strong out yesterday but not as much as a sneeze so guessing mine is probably very specifically species associated although which I donāt know. Horse chestnut, it well could be. Helen
Good morning my friend!
Today I have just washed the car and my nose is 100% clear!! So maybe like you it is a very specific species causing the worst of it! Balance wise I am on point quite surprising as yesterday I had felt very off, head tightness and some very dodgy equilibrium to name just a few!
The sun is shining and we dont feel like spinning pennies!! Yay! Have a lovely day in the sunshine
Better get it on right thread. Nose pretty good. Donāt think itās causing problems now but think Iām suffering from either too much sun or combo with a degree of warmth from being outside more yesterday in very strong sunshine. Knock on effect on the balance system, rear head pressure but, no, the nose is fine. As you say itās the condition that just goes on giving! Helen
Months ago I was taking motion sickness pills almost daily until I went to vestibular therapy and the therapist said not to take them if at all possible. She said your brain needs to rewire to stabilize balance and the pills make it harder for it to do that.
My former ENT preferred nasal spray over oral meds.
Try using the neti pot with a saline solution to see if that helps. I use the plastic bottle version with individual saline packets and it does help. Especially if Iām around a lot of dust or pollen. I also have a prescription strength nasal spray Mometasone Furoate Monohydrate 50 mcg.
Fewer drugs to take the better I guess. Reduces chances of interactions. There is any allergy treatments one can take with Beta blockers it seems so Iāve started making up my own saline solution to a NHS Website formula as of yesterday and it seems to be working extremely well. I know it is possible to buy it but probably allergic to the preservative therein this seemed better solution for me.
Yes. Most of them are vestibular suppressants which retard the brainās natural abilities to compensate. They are only to be used briefly during acute episodes.
Helen
Propranolol must certainly is. I believe same applies to all beta-blockers. Pharmacist told me the only thing I could take safely was a Sinex spray which doesnāt help. Beta-blockers very restrictive in terms of other meds for allergies and also flu/cold remedies. All off the menu. Helen
As you know Iām no doctor but From what I read my understanding is that taking antihistamines will reduce the efficacy of the beta-blockerās working. Possibly more important to people taking it for heart regulation Iād imagine but perhaps you should discuss it with a pharmacist or your doctor.
Iām suffering with stuffy nose at the moment too. I blame pollen but could be pollution too, dust I suppose. It wouldnāt be bad enough to bother with except being ābalance-sensitiveā with MAV means it makes my head swim every time I move it which eventually really affects my balance. Itās infuriating. I was fine, 100% until I breathe in a good lung full of country air laden with whatever this morning and something inside my nose started to āwell upā. Itās nowhere nearly as bad as a bad cold would affect the nose. Symptoms so slight but so infuriating! Mine must stem from MAV sensitivity because I was never pollen sensitive before! Not being able to take something to combat it because of the MAV preventatives is so annoying. Helen
I do think in my case at least the pollen sensitivity is part of MAV. Just another boring old sensitivity to add to the pile. This should and does seem to mean that it will be worse when the MAV plays up, ie when something else has already lowered the tolerance threshold and better when the reverse applies although Iām still sure for me the Tree Pollen and Rapeseed are and will continue to be worst. Helen
Well, I have always suffered with Hayfever but then I have had mav since I was 18? I do know I didnāt suffer when I was a young teen because I used to be on the farm all the time with no bother⦠today however I am a very itchy, sneezy mess!
Being on the farm was obviously VRT for allergies. Perhaps we should call it ART. You are the third person I know in similar circumstances. One keeps big dogs kennelled on sawdust and straw and outgrew his childhood asthma. Said he couldnāt remember the last time he used an inhaler and another friendās daughter who outgrew terrible childhood asthma by growing up up in a tiny house with five dogs, five cats, and numerous caged rabbits/guinea pigs. Perhaps āhabituationā applies to allergies too. Seems so. Helen
