Least side effects from Gabapentin or Pregabalin?

I’ve got some questions about Gabapentin (Neurontin) and Pregabalin (Lyrica).

(1) Does Gabapentin have more side effects than Pregabalin?

(2) Is Pregabalin as effective for MAV as Gabapentin?

I’m in the UK where we don’t have to pay the full cost of meds. However I don’t want my GP to steer me to the cheaper Gabapentin if it’s less good.

Lyrica is the newer, more improved neurontin. It isn’t as easily tolerated but supposed to beige potent. I would start in neurontin and if it didn’t work, go to lyrica.
