Momma Called the Doctor and the Doctor said

No more VRT 'til she’s better in the head!

Day three, in a row, where I’m feeling like the underside of a farmer’s boot. I’m having more drop attacks. How to describe them. I don’t know how old most of y’all are (not how you feel), but there were these cheap little animal toys when I was a kid, held upright by the tension of a rubber band. If you pressed the bottom of the little stand they stood on, you could release the tension of that rubber band and the animal would collapse.

Something/someone is pushing my button! I’ve lost my vertical hold!! Concentration is better today though if i turn my head too fast the world’s reactive motion becomes exaggerated. Yes, YES…the world turns around us.

Anyhow - I’ll be cancelling my therapy and the good doctor has changed my meds from Propranolol to Topamax?

“But whyyyy?! I LIKED the Propranolol. It worked great until Tuesday. WTH?!”

“MJ…it just quit working for you. It happens…often, with migraines.”

Hell!

What dose did you get to on the Propranol? Is this the neuro or the GP?

Good no more VRT for now good idea for the time being seems to be making things worse for you.

BTW how old are you? Could hormones be playing a part…this hit me last year and I am 47 so I am sure that hormones have played a part in all of this for me.

It is like my whole body has really gone haywire over the last year.

I hope they are starting you o slow on the Topimax…seems to work best for folks that way.

Not sure on dose. Just hoping it’s not too expensive.

Blood workup told me I was in luteal phase. I no longer get the luxury of a bloody warning because I had an ablation severl years ago though trust me, I still cycle. LOL I just turned 47 on the 31st. This is not to say that hormones may not be playing a part in this.

The GP put me on Propranolol (are you really gonna make me get up to look at the bottle?) - low dose. I’m alraedy on Diazide which she’s not willing to take me off of - and one of th ereasons she doesn’t want to increase the Propranolol. And so…

I was making a point…and completely, totally lost it. Again…HELL!

Topamax: 25mg 1 per day for 7 days.
25mg BID for 7 days
25mg 2 in morning for 7 days…

Then make move to: Topamax 50 BID

The generic form is $50 per month. Tough pill to swallow. Read the insert and gasped at the length of side effects. How many of you have tried Topamax with success and how many of you had to stop due to side effects?

There are number who have tried it and had to stop because of the side effects but there are some here who have been helped by it …you may want to read the success stories that will give you an idea of those who have a had success who may not post as often as some others.

I think there are several on it right now who are trying to get through the front side…best of luck …you may ask others but some have started on a lower dose than that I think.

I like that description. I know EXACTLY what you mean with this description. I also have days where I feel like that toy with someone partially pressing the button, and I have severe problems holding myself vertical. Then there are the days where I feel perfectly fine and someone presses that button anyway.
