Thanks so much! This is day 14 of the diet and no quick fix meds and I FINALLY slept good last night. Also maybe 4 days without a migraine, so starting to feel like Iām breaking through.
Iām going to look at these studies.
I found a couple regarding alternative therapies but need to look further into the admission criteria. Because if someone isnāt on a preventative diet and or meds, then they take an alternative therapy/drug, and they experience a rebound, well yeah, they probably wouldāve had one anyways.
@MissMigraine , how long did you do the diet for? Iām happy that you shared your experience. Would you mind if I ask what did give you relief?
Iām hoping this approach starts to work soon, so hard to be patient. Iāve had migraines nearly every day over the past 3 weeks since stopping quick fix meds and starting the diet. Trying to not hate my brain and body but Iām feeling so frustrated with these things and needing to remind myself that itās mostly out of my control. Between my menstrual cycle being off and the rampant change in weather these past couple weeks it seems like I canāt catch a break. I feel like Iām complaining and I hate that but I miss being able to take meds and tough it out through the day vs being couch bound and in pain when these attacks come on.
The usual recommendation is to try the diet for 3 months but i did it for 6. Got no relief whatsoever. But thatās great because i can eat whatever I like hehe. I found relief from Flunarizine which i took for 2 years. I recently came off it and VM returned but over the past 4 months itās gradually got milder and milder and I am alot better now thankfully. Itās healed on itās own without any input, but before i took Flunarizine it was constant for 3 years and I definitely needed the meds to break the cycle.
The HYH book has some great insights. Itās a good starting place though some aspects are debatable. As far as the diet, Iād say definitely worth trying. I went āall inā for at least 6 months. It didnāt help me in the slightest but I know it has helped others. And itās nice knowing what works and what doesnāt. Shout out to the Dizzy Cook for recipe ideas.
