Hang in there for awhile longer. A few weeks after I started topamirate I wound up in the emergency room (I was found unconscious) so obviously my symptoms continued to accelerate for awhile before the drug finally kicked in. But once it did my symptoms gradually calmed down. I hope it works for you, too. In the meantime, be very, very kind to yourself – lots of rest, healthy food, avoid whatever aggravates your condition. Give yourself as much time and space as you can manage to help your brain cope. We’re all pulling for you.
I’ve stuck to the diet my consultant gave me 100% even avoiding the huge tins of chocolate that are everywhere at the moment!
I’m hoping topiramate works for me… do you mind me asking what dose you found helped?
I’m finding my ear symptoms are still there at the moment and until yesterday the dizziness wasn’t as bad but still mildly there but I’m only on 25mg twice a day at the minute, I increase to 50mg twice a day on the 6th Jan.
I’m told a sold titration is best
Sorry, Coffey, I don’t remember the dosage. I recall starting low and then increasing once or twice. For me, improvement was measured over months and years, not days or weeks. Unfortunately.
