Hey everyone, thanks for the advice. I took 12.5mg yesterday and was still a bit anxious, heart beating faster, but i dealt with it a little better since it wasnt night time and I wasnt trying to sleep but it was still uncomfortable. I did sleep better since i didnt take it at night but i am horribly dizzy again this morning. Im almost done with my prednisone taper pack, and i felt so much better when i was taking 30mg, my balance and vision was much clearer but now that im on 10mg a day, taking my last dose tomorrow i feel much more heavy headed and dizzy. With me being already an anxious person I wonder if maybe an antideprssant would be best, I know some people on here have had luck killing the dizzies with ADâs. Maybe i should have given the celexa a longer try. I just hated the increased anxiety and diarrhea. I did great anxiety/depression wise on zoloft but after 2/3 weeks it was increasing my dizziness pretty bad.
Anne- How long until those side effects went away with celexa? My baby is actually a great sleeper thankfully, she has slept through the night since she was 2 weeks old but I still dont sleep too well. My boys get up pretty early and I end up staying up pretty late. Lack of sleep does seem to make it all worse but so does sleeping in. I think a perfect 8 hours is best. Have you noticed anything positive about the topamax at all?
Tony-Thanks for all the advice on the topamax. Im glad you are doing well with it even though it has been some ride getting there. Looking forward to your success storyâŚhopefully soon.
Karen- I hope you find some relief soon, do you plan on trying something else if the topamax doesnt work?
I made myself go to the gym yesterday, I was regularly exercising before all this anf before I had my baby but it seems like running makes it all worse now. Also my ear feels more clogged after i exercise. Not sure if its all the stimulation to my vestibular system or what?
Hi Rebecca:
For now I am just going to continue with the low dose topamax as long as no S/Eâs occur. I am still taking vitamin supplements, following migraine diet and trying to exercise (though this makes my dizziness worse). I am also taking metotoprol 50 mg am and pm which I have been on for my high blood pressure for a few years now. I truly do not want to try another med!
Iâm glad you were able to sleep a bit better. I guess we all react differently to meds even as to the times we can take them. For my anxiety I take xanax because all the ADâs give me diarrhea and stomach cramps.
Oh and my ears always feel clogged even though a neuro otologist find nothing wrong. This sucks doesnât it!!
Iâm sending good thoughts your way. Take care,
Karen

Hi rebecca,
sorry to hear youâre still struggling, but glad to hear you dealt with the 12.5mg Topamax during the day a little better. I see youâre also tapering off of prednisone..? So unfortunately you have a few âvariablesâ that your system is dealing with right nowâŚ? I guess itâs not surprising that yourâre feeling some turmoil - reducing levels of prednisone and adding Topamax.
I can also see that your mind is racing now: âI wonder if an antidepressant would be bestâŚmaybe I should have given the celexa a longer tryâŚi did great on zoloftâŚâ. I know how it feels - weâre all desperate for some stillness and stability (literally), and I wish I could help more. I know that ârockysmomâ (Kelley) on this site is fantastically knowledgeable in terms of drugs and interactions - perhaps she could help advise. For what itâs worth, to me, it sounds like you could use some stability for a while, in terms of sticking with one drug and giving it a fair trial, using a âlow and slowâ approach. Otherwise Iâm worried that you might end up jumping from drug to drug too quickly without having a clear picture of what might work for youâŚ? How long have you been on the Topamax? Do you think you could settle for a while at a minimal dosage until your system stabilises? At the moment, Iâm not sure whether you can even judge the Topamax in terms of side-effects (like increased dizziness, etc) because youâre also tapering off the prednisoneâŚ
Wishing you all the best rebecca - hang in there!
Tony.
