beechleaf did propanolol work for you when u took it for the 2nd and 3rd time? Did it help with balance issues at all? have you ever gone on pizotifen for a 2nd time?
I get more dizzy when I try almost every new med- it seems to me like it should pass though within 2-3 weeks- if it doesn’t settle down then maybe it isn’t the med for you?
Wtc- I was exactly the same as you, it made feel really off. From what I understand and probably the reason why people have said much, is that it is quite rare to be prescribed it. X
Hi who’sthatchick
I can totally relate to this. I have been on amitriptyline and then prothiaden for about 18 months. It helped with chronic symptoms but was still having attacks frequently. I saw dr S and he took me off prothiaden and on to pregablin. I have been working up to 300mg over about 3 months. After about 150mg I started getting mini attacks and feeling like everything is being resensitised in my vestibular system. I am also really dizzy lying down again, asking it difficult to sleep. When I saw Dr s he said to sop worrying about having come off the prothiaden and try And be more positive. I have come down from 300mg to 250mg. I am not ready to bin this trial but am really worried I underestimated the power of prothiaden even though the dizziness was still ruling my life when being on it. I think 2/3 weeks at every drug increase is what is accepted to give it to see if things calm down again.

Hi Sarah,
Gosh, you have a good memory remembering I took Piz as well to start with!
The propranolol always helps me as it calms me down and stops me making things worse as I find that anxiety about my dizziness really ramps it up. However, I’m not sure I could be sure if it actually stops the dizziness. I’ve recovered over time, but can’t tell if that is genuinely due to the propranolol or whether if I was taking nothing at all it would eventually settle by itself. Propranolol doesn’t help my headaches very much, so I suspect really it’s just helping with the anxiety side of things.
I’ve not gone back on the piz, but would if I got terrible again. This definitely helped with the dizzies and also it reduced my headache frequency/severity, although it was more helpful with the dizzies than the headaches, if that makes sense. I didn’t like taking piz as I put on quite a bit of weight quite rapidly. It’s a difficult trade off between feeling dizzy and getting fat. If I had mild dizziness I would rather be slim and put up with the dizzies. I’m very conscious of my health/weight as I have a high risk of stroke due to family history. If my dizzies were terrible again like they were in 2010 I would definitely take the piz to get my life back again.
Thanks guys. I think we have to rock the boat to get back onto the calmer waters really dont we. And we definitely have to take the risk to give each drug a fair trial. The doctors know we CAN get better with these meds, and i know alot of people have had success with Propranolol.
And yes i know what you mean Becks!! But, i guess we have to think that although we knew how to ‘live’ slightly better on those other meds, if they weren’t making us live our lives properly, then they probably aren’t the one.
Thanks everyone! I decided to split my morning pill down to 5mg today, and 10mg at night. I think although this is a very low dose, i am VERY sensitive, and maybe should have started lower, but i’ve almost done a week now, and hoping things will ease up in my second week, as right now i’m feeling super travel sick the whole time, and the room is rocking very badly again… urgggg i didn’t miss this on the ami! the sickness and constant jolts in my head are horrible. Like having been on a fairground ride for hours on end… no thank you! xx
Hi im also on prop slow release 80mg a day and nort 10mg at nite . Ive been taking these for 4 mths and im now about 97% better. These are defiantly a great combo, but they do take about 6 wks to see a affect. Not sure if i have MAV thou, as been diagnoised 3 differant things x
Its very common to feel worse when starting or upping a med.
Thank you xx
