Still around, and trialing another drug

Hi All

Just wanted to let you know that I am still alive & kicking (have just been very busy but
have been reading all messages). I am also trialling a new drug - I have just taken my third dose
of Acetazolamide (Diamox). I feel markedly better, but it is a bit rough on my stomach (some diarrhea
and a bit of nausea). I’m pretty happy with the side effects so far though - I have not experienced
the tingling hands and feet that others often do, yet.

It seems to be moderately effective so far (on 62.5mg), so I will continue dose increases every week
until reaching my target of 500mg or when the dizziness and visual symptoms disappear.

If anyone wants to read about it, there is a lot of info around (search Google). It is commonly used for
rare forms of migraine and is very effective in those.

Adam

Hi,

Really happy for you and thanks for the information. I am going to read about this.
Is a neurologist prescribing it for you? Or some other specialist?

Raven

Adam,

Glad to hear that you are having some success.

Just curious, how many different meds have you tried. From what I have read it is very common for people with MAV to go through multiple meds before they find one that works for them. Myself, I am on my third med, depakote, and have had quite a bit of success with it.

Hi Brian

I’ve trialled approximately 15 different meds before Acetazolamide!

Hi :o

I have read about Depakote being used for migraine treatment. I was curious if it helped.
And Adam : hope you are doing well on your new med.

Let us know how it is going.
