Gail i know i agree with all of you - some days i have good days lately so maybe that’s the problem i don’t know - i wish i knew if i had MaV only way to tell is to try the meds
i am post menopausal - im 53 and having hotflashes a lot and lots of anxiety. but dizziness been going on since 23 so it’s not all that. it’s just worse.
i posted to my other post - funny story - my gyno actually prescribes Effexor and Cymbalta for menopause - go figure. i may have to try the cymbalta that’s what the neuro wanted me to take anyway.
that or start with celexa to get over the drug fear - who knows i’ll work it out soon i’m sure.
Chris… I thought you were 44 or so. I’m in my mid-50’s and post-menopausal as well. You know, I was going to suggest just circumventing the ADs, etc. and just going with the benzos which are so good with anxiety anyway. However, the AD’s are often prescribed for anxiety/depression but also menopause symptoms because including the anxiety they often also hit hot flashes as well. Yes, you’ve got the up & down pattern which makes it more tempting to stay in your holding pattern which is where I was for so long… kept me from actually seeking out a neurologist at that stage. Well, you’re bound to figure it all out. Hang in there, fears and all!!
Gail : )
Wait, Chris..you’re already taking some valium or a little something like that for anxiety, right?? Sorry, I’m getting all confused. Time to get off the computer, fix a trigger-free dinner, and relax. Too much on my plate lately. Have a great weekend!
Gail
You know, for menopause symptoms, if you’re worried about the effects of HRT or other prescription treatments, you might try Estroven. It’s a supplement that my physician recommended. (She doesn’t like to prescribe HRT because of the risks involved.) I was a bit skeptical, but I tried it, and it’s really, really helpful. It doesn’t work all at once – you have to take it for a couple of weeks to notice how much it’s helping. But if I run out, and miss it for two or three days, I start having hot flashes again.
Because I don’t have MAV, there may be problems with it for you that it doesn’t cause for me. But just for relief of menopause symptoms, I think it’s great.
yeah that’s a good idea i should try that and/or natural progesterone cream you can buy in a health food store i tried that years ago with PMS not sure what it did - i need someting for anxiety more than anytining and fatigue.
My BF and i just did a test. I drove part way to the gym with him with me but still got anxious and it made me dizzy so i pulled over but i eventualy got there and then he went to a store while i worked out and i always get dizzy exercising now and i didnt used to but i waited a bit and then managed to drive out onto the main road - that’s the worst part i get real dizzy - have actually freaked out about it where i couldnt do it but with him with me it helps but once I get on to my street which isn’t so bad except for red lights i’m okay.
strange but i think anxiety is biggest issue here right now but it was never like this so i bet it is hormones or lack thereof - LOL.
it felt realy good to do someting i haven’t hardly been able to do in two months - thank goodness i have been working out at home all this time.
i think the cognative behavior therapy will help with some of this stuff too.
my BF is a godsend. don’t know how he puts up with me!
