Time between trigger and migraine?

One thing that’s never been clear to me in everything I’ve read and heard:

How long after a trigger (eating a food, staying up late, etc.) does a migraine typically start?

Can it start immediately, like within minutes? Hours? Can it start a day or two later?

Is there an average time, or range of times, between trigger and migraine?

Does the time between trigger and migraine vary from person to person?

Nancy

For me, it can take anywhere from 2-6 hours. The migraine/headache will start about 12 hours later after the dizziness has intensified. I also find that my dizzy/veritgo attacks will happen when I’m sleeping or just getting ready for bed too

It depends on the trigger for me. Odors, chemical fumes and some foods can set me off in minutes. The wrong type of motion, and weather can trigger me instantly. Sleep, stress, and other types of food can be a few hours to the next day.

Brian - weather is definitely a huge factor for me too, especially during the winter!!!

Stress and knots in my neck also are a huge trigger for me
