Recently I have been using 5mg of valium when I have a very bad dizzy day and I have to say it works absolute wonders within 20 mins. The dizziness is greatly reduced so it’s not just the claming/anti-anxiety effect. This has made me question whether there is a massive subconscious anxiety component to my dizziness. I was/am such a relaxed person that I’d be very suprised of this is the case. Given that valium’s mechanism of action is to enhance the effects of GABA, act as a muscle relaxant and an anti-convulsant I am wondering if anyone could suggest a drug with a similar mech of action more suited to long term use? I had a horrendous time on nori, after a good 8 week trial I was 10 times worse consistently from start to finish so something other than a tri-cyclic…suggestions very gratefully received…xx

Hi DizzieLizzie. You’re wise to be cautious with valium. I took it (and other benzos) too frequently and became highly dependent on it. Coming off is proving to be really tough with lot of unpleasant side effects and is taking a long time.
