Thanks so much Helen I’m going to ask my doctor today however does dr gain specify that one actually works better than the other ? Or just that one is tolerated better ?
It’s annoying because I did ask dr S and he made a fuss over it

Honestly no idea dr S just was adamant I do immediate release first
First few lines under the table are the only reference I could quickly find but I’ve seen others, If you search the internet generally you’ll find a lot of people taking it for other conditions saying how much better the ER version proved as @mav has found. My own GP will only use the ER version. Ultimately it’s up to what your GP is happy with, they are responsible for your health. Theory is they know your general health more intimately. Do you remember Dr S prescribed @sputnik2 Pregabalin initially and her GP wouldn’t prescribe it? Helen

Hi Amy, just coming into second what others have said above… Switch to extended release, whilst Dr S is renowned, he’s working off a protocol and is not experiencing it… So you’ve tested immediate release and struggled it so get on the phone and get your script for extended release. Venf is too good to stop without switching first. I had my improvement similar to @mav at 75mg on er. Immediate release not good. You need to titrate up slowly too, jumping straight to 75mg is not the best way, I went up 12mg every 3 to 4 weeks…
Between the er and slower tirating, you’ve loads of scope left on this tablet.
Any improvement is positive so keep going.
Thanks you so much I really appreciate your in put ! Would you say it was slow progress once you got to 75? I called my gp and will speak to her next week about swapping to the er . Thanks so much for ur help guys I do really appreciate it @Onandon03 @Mav
hey Amy, for me venlafaxine has worked well, not completely eliminated my symptoms but helped me function. I think it took a while, i went up to 150mg in 4 months and I would say after 6 months or so I could say that I started having close to normal days.
Thanks so much hun so it basically was a gradual process that’s really helpful
