Hi everyone.
I have MAV and have had 5 vertigo attacks in 3 yrs. The worst one being last Jan.
I get them mostly the day before or the day of my period (I’m in peri and 43 yrs old) but the last bout I had was nowhere near my cycle and the worst vertigo attack yet.
The day before the full blown attack, I felt this strange head pressure and then dizziness about 15 mins after eating some pasta salad from a salad bar. Not sure if that trigged the attack, but my gut was saying it was.
Foods were never a trigger for me before. I can pretty much eat any migraine trigger foods, but lately, it seems like I eat someone and get dizzy.
Tonight, I had a friggn mento (I never eat candies) and within 10 mins, I started to get that weird “day before vertigo” feeling.
Sinuses are heavy, I feel dizzy, out of balance, and just tired and weird and I felt great all day.
What are your food triggers and did you always have food triggers?
Nuts
Cheese
Chocolate
MSG
Foods with preservatives added
Asian sauces in bottles
Coffee (with ot withou caffeine)
caffeinated tea
Most alcohol (can get away with vodka and gin sometimes), especially beer and wine
Vinegar or anything with vinegar in it
Yoghurt
Deli foods
Certain types of honey
Too much citrus fruit
Onions
I have found it hard to figure out what my triggers are just because I am constantly dizzy so it makes it hard to find out what is causing it. Do you guys know if there are certain types of alcohol that is suppose to be worse for MAV then others? I turned 21 not that long ago and basically all of my friends drink so I don’t hang out with anyone that often. It’s really hard to meet new ppl and to keep friends with MAV and on top of not being able to drink it makes it even harder. The only thing I have tried is beer and that made me really dizzy.
