Sorry because I am not sure if I should not create a new thread but I do not know where to post.
I was doing very well at Ami 10mg, but I was still getting motion sickness. My neuro told me to increase up to 20 mg. I just increased 2.5mg because I was scared and because I am very sensitive. Since I increased the dose 2 days ago I am very dizzy again!! I don’t think that this is due to just 2.5 mg more. Could anyone relate? Thanks in advance, my life is again broken.
Sounds like fluctuating symptoms and an unfortunate coincidence to me, not the drug. A 2.5mg change is so very very small. Sorry to hear you’ve had a relapse
Thanks James… Did you notice a worsening or any side effect when you went up to 20 mg?
I am not sure if you still take Ami. Did you have any issue tapering? TIA
I agree with the previous respondent - it’s unlikely that the miniscule increase in Amitryptilline is the cause. Until recently I was on Nortyrptilline 50mg at night and this certainly reduced my vestibular symptoms. Nortyrptilline and Amitryptilline are from the same group of medications.
I see a neurologist and pain specialist.
Hi Poppy,
Did you continue with Ami 12.5 mg? Did the dizziness continue? Probably the doctor will tell you to try for a few more days. My medicine is Nortriptyline (10 mg) and it works for me. You can also ask your doctor about Nor since both are similar. My side effect is increased pulse (high 60s is my new normal). I know it is difficult, but you were already doing well with medicine. You will find the right dose/medicine and you will be fine again.
I went back to 10 mg but I continue very very dizzy. I do not understand what happened. I am scared of go up to 20 mg because I think that Ami helps me just for pain but not for dizziness. My neurologist suggested me to start Pristiq but again, it is a nightmare to start and even more to stop so I do not know what to do. I feel that my life is over. On January I could see some light after 3 years but now everything is dark again.
Do you know what James? Maybe I sound like if I were a 4 years old baby girl but I am scared of everything and this is the truth. I heard horrible stories about coming off Ami with horrible withdrawals. I am severe emetophobic so any chance of nausea, vomiting or extra dizziness makes me panicking. Apologies also if my writing is not correct. English is not my mother language so I am used to making mistakes. Thank you all for your support. I really appreciate that you are on the other side.
Everyone is different. But of all the things I found scary in this illness, the medication wasn’t one of them. Flying worried me until I did it and suffered no additional ill effects whereas getting on a trampoline for fun at a friend’s place didn’t scare me at all but made me very sick for two weeks lol.
Sorry because maybe you talked about this in older post but it is quite difficult for me to find the information. Are you feeling ok now without meds? How did you taper Ami? Thanks and hope you are doing really well!!
