Amitriptyline - how soon does it work

I’ve weaned myself off Pizotifen in order to try and see if Ami can be more effective. I started a week ago at 10mg and upped to 20mg last night. How soon will it work - I’m really suffering again and dying for it to kick in. I also have sickness caused by the migraine but I believe it is also a side effect as my tummy gets gurgly after taking it. (Noting it didn’t last night after 20mg so that’s good)

As with a lot of preventatives, 8-12 weeks is usually the minimum amount of time before judging whether a med will work or not. That doesn’t mean that no one sees improvements sooner than that, but it can certainly take awhile. Are you taking the Ami with food? That may help with the stomach upset.
