Any Recommendations for Good Neuro/ Neuro Otologist (UK, East Midlands)

I’ve requested an NHS referral for the headache clinic, but its a 6 month wait and honestly none of the previous meds my Neurologist prescribed helped. I’m now toying up going private. I’m in the East Midlands. I’m a non driver and have no access to a car so was wondering about a virtual consultation. I’d really like to see a specialist in balance disorders and I just wondered if anyone had any recommendations please.

Maybe a pfaff to get here (he’s actually practicing near me) but have you considered contacting:

Dr. Nicholas Silver

He’s mentioned a lot on this forum.

I’ve not been his patient (yet) but you can respond to people who have and ask them about their experience.

Thank you, I’ve heard him mentioned. I was thinking of maybe a Neuro Otologist because its the balance issues, rather than the migraine that are my problem. I was reading an article by Dr Shin Beh yesterday that said “dizzy patients should not be diagnosed with VM just because they have a history of migraine” which is kind of what I feel happened to me.

I want to make sure there isnt another cause that’s been missed/ overlooked.

ahhh, yeah, good point.

if you know my intellectual history you might be shocked by my last Post lol

I’ve since become a little more open minded about the migraine hypothesis.

Yes, definitely try to find an oto-neurologist in first instance.

I’ve moved some posts so we can keep this one on topic.

@DizzyandConfused we are immediately getting off Topic again! (my fault last time)

Let’s leave this Topic for recommendations for professionals

My GP kindly attempted to expedite my referral to NHS Neurology last week and I chased it up today. However they replied and said they were unable to consult with me before March and they have sent my email once again to the headache nurse to ask if there are any meds I havent tried she could suggest in the meantime. This is the state of the NHS unfortunately.

I’ve been doing my research and I’ve found someone who looks promising, he works from Leicester so not too far away and he specialises in VM, PPPD, balance disorders, he runs one of the biggest balance clinics in the country and is a past president of the Neuro Otology Association. So he ticks all the boxes and I think I will book a consultation soon.
