I’ve noticed that there is not much posted about the other part of MAV, the headaches. I am one of many that get the headaches along with the vertigo. Fun stuff! I’ve actually suffered with the headaches for much longer than I’ve had vertigo. So my Neuro gave me a new medication for the migraines. It’s called baclofen, it’s basically a muscle relaxant. I was very skeptical as I’ve taken so many different kind of migraine meds and baclofen really works for me! I’ve taken it several times and every time it works really well. I just wanted to share in case anyone else is struggling with bad headaches too. OTC meds don’t even touch my headaches, baclofen is a miracle drug for me. It doesn’t do anything for vertigo though.
I have to add that as much as my headaches stink and as much as I hate them I’d take a migraine headache over chronic vertigo any day!!!
I am like you, I have been dizzy for 4 years and I felt so bad I don’t know if I noticed the headaches…after a new mix of drugs the dizziness is better lately and now I notice the headaches, so thanks for the advice…oddly in the afternoon about 3 when the headache starts I have two aspirin and a diet coke and I feel better.
Forgot to ask, doesn’t this make you even more tired than you already are?
Hey Jaybird,
Yes, the baclofen can make me tired, so sometimes I just take half of one and it does the trick. But it does not make me nearly as tired as other meds like valium.
The Cymbalta has been helping me a lot with my vertigo and I thought it was helping with the headaches but then I get hit with a whammy of a migraine. Asprin has always been my fav. OTC as well but it doesn’t seem to help me much anymore.
Does the Diet Coke give you rebound migraines? Does the artificial sweeter bother you?
If you’d like to give baclofen a try it’s a pretty easy med to tolerate.
