Lisa sent this to me a while back and makes for some very good reading.

Addiction and high-dose dependence are rare, but many patients develop physiological low-dose dependence and coping strategies vary. The conflict between proponents and opponents can assume religious proportions. A good knowledge base of the particular profile of a specific benzodiazepine, the identification of risk populations, clear indications, and the courage to discontinue the treatment if it is no longer useful may limit the problems associated with benzodiazepines.

I’ve finally got the FTP software working Lisa. Sorry for the delay. The others articles will follow shortly.
Thanks Scott. I know there has been a lot of discussion around benzos so I thought I would pass this along to everyone. It was written for a physician audience, but I am pretty sure it is also easy to understand by folks who are not docs. When I get the part II I can send to Scott (sorry) if you are interested in me doing so.
If there is any confusion to anything feel free to ask me any questions. I suppose I should disclose I am a physician myself. I greatly enjoy these discussions we have on the forum and can certainly understand people’s feelings around benzos and other meds, both personally and professionally.
Thanks for all of your input. It’s great having these articles, your knowledge, and perspective here. It’s the sort of stuff that makes mvertigo an information power house. Definitely send me part 2 when it arrives and I’ll add it here.
