Celexa dizziness

So I apparently have been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder co morbid with Vestibular Migraines. About a month and a half ago I had a real bad episode of anxiety and my doctor prescribed a low dose of Celexa (10mg) which seemed to help a little. However, after about 6-7 days on it I started to feel dizzy right at bed time when I closed my eyes.

As I normally wake up with my vestibular migraines symptoms (prounounced right left vertigo) I thought I was getting one so I took my meclizine just in case. However, the migraine never arrived and after 4-5 days the mild dizziness subsided.

My doctor however recently upped the Celexa dosage to 20mg and about 5 days later I started having the same nighttime dizziness.

Has anybody else ever experience this with Celexa or other SSRIs?

Celexa made me dizzier, but i know it’s helped a lot of people.
Sounds like it’s a promising med for you…
good luck!

I am finishing my third week on Celexa, started at 5mg and then went to 10mg the last two weeks.

In the first week, I had waves of dizziness, almost like a rush that you would get in a panic situation, but that has passed. It was never a constant dizziness, just waves of dizziness that would last a minute and then subside.

My dizziness is now getting better slightly. But I have sexual side effects. I am supposed to park at 10mg for a month and then see about going up to 15mg.

Honestly, I think you should see if the dizziness goes away in a day or two, and if not, you should adjust your dose downward to where you are comfortable. You are not a robot or a statistic, you are a human being and you need to tailor the dosage to your particular chemistry. Anyway, that is what I think.

I also had waves of increased dizziness that typically didn’t last longer than 30 seconds or so, but I do remember have a really bad dizzy day one week after hitting my target dose of 20 mg. I was very dizzy and in bed most of the day. I was so bummed out thinking this was awful after getting to the target dose and supposed to be getting better. But after that, the dizziness was gone.

See how you feel in a in a bit and take it from there. I’d also suggest increasing in 5 mg jumps instead of 10 mg to lower the chances for dizziness. Just a thought.
