Cymbalta vs Celexa?

Is there one that is generally better for MAV or handled better? I was doing ok on Zoloft for about 2 weeks, then the dizziness hit me hard, and the headaches were not tolerable so I stopped it. My doctor wanted me to try at least another week on it and I couldn’t even take one more day! She prescribed Cymbalta but my insurance does not cover it since there is no generic. I would have to pay $80 for it, of course I wouldn’t mind if I knew it would help my anxiety and not make more dizzy or possible put an end to the dizziness. The pharmacist suggested Celexa since it has a generic. I called my doc and left a message so we will see what she says but I’m wondering if there has been more success here with one of these over the other. I also read Cymbalta being an SNRI has more withdrawal symptoms.

hi
I am on cymbalta and have tolerated it well. It has done very well for my anxiety, and it is crucial for my dizziness “cocktail” of meds, including klonopin and promethazine. I found both Lexapro and Celexa (almost the same med) didn’t help as much and raised my anxiety level.
I know Celexa is pretty well tolerated and does come in generic. I think it’s def worth a try. But if not…a SNRI might be in your future…
Good luck!
