Diagnosed with migrainous vestibulopathy

I saw one of the neurologists again and told me I may keep ami and see an optometrist to be sure about the function of the eyes. I dont know what optometrists are doing to be honest or what could see.

The optometrist will make sure your eyes are focusing on the same point at the same time. They’ll look for astigmatisms or any other physical reasons you are having trouble.

So they can check about VH and other binocular problems better than ophthalmologists?

Ophthalmologists are more trained regarding all aspects of the eyes. Optometrists mostly test you for glasses or contacts. It’s a general practitioner versus specialist thing.

I noticed that when my head is in real pain my temperature is always 37°. Is this VM symptom?

Yeah, it can be. Migraine affects the autonomic system including temperature control. I sometimes go slightly hypo or hyperthermic. Me being completely off kilter with the surrounding air temperature is a running joke in my family. Sometimes I’m sweating and feverish in the snow; others I’m wearing a coat when everyone else around me is dying of the summer heat. We migraineurs have overstimulated, hyper-reactive brains. Given your brain is the control center for your whole body, nearly any weird symptom is possible. I’ve certainly sampled a large and diverse set of symptoms. It speaks to the miraculous complexity of our brains. Though having frozen, numb hands, explosive diarrhea, dizziness, facial pain and heart palpitations simultaneously doesn’t feel too miraculous in the moment.

As you can see I stopped posting a lot these days. A lot of things happened these 20 days but I am still like drunk all day with all the difficulties you get from this condition. I will update later cause I am stopping some meds.

Good luck, Kon.

Just wanted to ask something. Is it me only, when the lighting is low my vision wobles like crazy but if I turn on some lights its distinguish. Its there but it doesnt bother me so much.

Not only you. It happens. You need to ensure there is sufficient even lighting around you all the time with acute symptoms. Your brain is relying more on your eyes for information and your eyes need more light.

Helen’s right. Some of us have really bad ear related symptoms. Some of us are more obviously visual cortex/brain stem. Others get the gamut.

My vision wobbles. Sometimes it looks like it’s beating or breathing. I have really strong visual snow. Sometimes the background looks stable but the snow is pulsing, flashing, rotating. Sometimes everything is moving but not necessarily in the same direction or manner. Don’t even get me started on dappled sunlight, glints off water or visually noisy places. It’s like living in a Dali painting. Get the brain calmed and the visual effects will ease up.

My sister suggested I never take hallucinogens because it would be a waste of expensive drugs I could otherwise share. Can’t imagine why we’d want to augment an already bizarre frame of reference. It’s sanity challenging as is.

I also think that wobble can be a slight nystagmus, indicative of vestibular problems. I’ve noticed it a lot on waking in a dark room, where I’ll try to focus on a spot on the wall and my eyes are just wobbling, unable to completely focus on the spot.

@Kon, thinking of you this week, hope you are doing better?

Basically I had a second relapse in the space of about a month (probably related).

The first I’m pretty certain one was caused by my dentist squeazing the muscles of my jaw and tissue around my ear in an attempt to determine if I was still suffering from TMJ. Zero pain but two days later I had spinning attacks in bed and given I’d more or less recovered from all vestibular symptoms and have been pretty normal for nearly 2 years, it was pretty obvious it was related.

The second ‘attack’ was however, very similar to your circumstances.

I’d been playing a video game for two or three hours (COD) and suddenly at one point I got really anxious in a firefight. At that moment I became very dizzy and decided to get up and stop. I felt quite unsteady and odd and this lasted until the following morning. A few days in and I have a mild version of the feeling of internal motion I once had (but much milder) and I’m left with some feelings of head motion discomfort. It’s slowly improving but annoying nonetheless.

Anyway I thought you might be interested because imho this was kicked off by a video game.

Oh no! More trouble with you. Mmm video games have lots of movement. I’m riding the same boat and still see movement strangely. I hope it does go away… your recovery brings hope to many others.
