Dr S has put me on this diet and prescribed 10 mg of nortriptlyne

@Scottl
What dose nortriptyline are you having to taper down from ? At what dose did you start to find relief?

I started 20mg Nortriptyline on April 17, so far no vertigo attacks (had been having 1-2 attacks every 7days for over 3 months) and tinnitus has decreased. Only side effect: resting heart rate has increased from 68 bpm to 74 bpm. Nothing to be alarmed about just something I have noticed.

Hi Nicholas. If you are experiencing much increased tinnitus it may be natural progression of the condition or it’s possible it is a side effect on the Nori. Very recently on here somebody did post they had had it on increasing Ami which is in the same drug class. Helen

My bet is on this … mine became more persistent … I like to think it’s a good sign if annoying in the meantime :slight_smile:

Really, ā€˜a good sign’. Well it’s amazing how we are all so different with this condition. Don’t know whether it’s cause or effect but I’m always better without any tinnitus/ear fullness at all and if I have tinnitus in both ears that’s as good as an aura for me. Tinnitus in both ears and a numbness in the right side if the upper joint of my right index fingers. Yep. Sounds daft I know but that means there’s trouble afoot! A bit of feint tinnitus in my right ear, which incidentally I notice there as I type, is fine. Can just ignore that. Helen

Yes, I think it’s about stability. My neurological and balance issues were much worse when my tinnitus was more variable.

I think thats why MAV doesn’t improve linearly. It has a constant need to consolidate yr underlying balance which is why trigger avoidance pays off? Helen

I think there are layers to it. The neurological one definitely responds to trigger reduction, but that’s very personal. Others might benefit from pushing their boundaries a bit to encourage compensation .. tricky ā€˜balance’ /ahem.
