I’m not actually sure I should be here but here goes… I’m 3 months into a strange situation. I had a migraine when I was 40 weeks pregnant and woke up the next day seeing everything at a tilt. I don’t per se feel off balance, although I’ve been driving myself insane trying to understand this so I do feel hyper sensitive to wonky floors in old buildings. It’s like everything looks more slanted than it should be. If I sit down at a table, the table appears to be going downwards to the point it looks like the food would roll away! Floors look a bit bizarre. That makes the built environment hard to navigate.
This sounds minor but to be honest, it isn’t. It makes it hard to do most things. I often wonder if I had a mini stroke. Probably not, but at this point who knows. I had an eye test and they didn’t flag anything although they were a bit useless so I’m not totally satisfied.
I have at this point no light or smell sensitivity, no pain, no nausea. Just this disturbance and a huge amount of anxiety about it. I am so scared!
It takes an age to get proper help but I am waiting for vestibular testing. They suggested it could be VM. I am not for or against that hypothesis. I just wonder, as I guess you all understand. Have you ever encountered something similar on these forums or in your own lives?
I am NOT a doctor and not trying to diagnose you, but you may find this article interesting. Good luck. I have been on this journey since 2008, but have improved a lot since early 2024. There is hope.
I have been experiencing exactly the same symptom the last week. Everything thing appears at a slight tilt/ slant. I really notice it when I’m in bed as I feeling as though I’m rolling down as it is on a slant. I also really notice it on my phone when I’m typing or looking at emails on my laptop. It feels really strange! Some people talk about this symptom on the vestibular support group on Facebook.
I went to see a vestibular Physio who said this is a common symptom of vestibular migraine. But it doesn’t seem to be going yet! I have asked to be referred for VNG testing. But like you said, there’s not loads about this symptom online so it’s reassuring to come across others who’ve experienced it!
