I brought up the whole MAV migraine idea and he actually said that this was too much to consider in a visit!

Tell your doc the money he charges is too much to consider.

That’s incredible. You have a lot of stuff going on. You would think your neurologist would be able to manage all of those issues He either doesn’t have the time or he doesn’t have the brain power. Have you thought of starting with somebody new?

I have considered finding a new doctor, I am just not sure of how to go about it.
I have a neurotologist also. He was/is practially useless.

I remember in my reading of Heal your headaches he talks about looking at patients who didn’t respond to treatment as failures.
I think that is how this doctor views me and why he just didn’t have time “to go into all that”.
If bloodwork doesn’t show something and nothing shows up on films then there isn’t anything to treat. I can’t take heavy pain medication. I also know that pain is an indication of something amiss. But one would think, wait, that’s what my problem is. I think! I try to be logical in my problem solving approach!

I would smack myself on the side of the head but I have had only a mild headache this afternoon, so why tempt fate?

toodles, Janine

If you think you have MAV, can you do a search for a neuro-otologist in your area? If you don’t mind telling what part of the country you live in, some board members may be able to help you find somebody in your area.

The neurologist and the ENT i went to didn’t know anything about MAV - didn’t know what to make of me. That may have just been bad luck on my part, but I’m glad i found a specialist in MAV. Or, you could look for a neurologist who specializes in migraine and tell him dizziness is one of your symptoms (?) (if you’re sure you’re a migrainer).

I found my neuro-oto at a nearby neuroscience center, found his CV on the center’s website saw that he had trained at Johns Hopkins, then I emailed him, asked him if he diagnosed and treated MAV. He said “yes.” that was good enough for me.

Good luck

I live near Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I have checked a few sites for specialists but maybe you have some other ideas. I am open to suggestions.
I have spent alot of time on the computer researching eliminating MSG in my diet, what a mess that is. But I suppose it is worth a try.
Thanks for any ideas,
Janine
