For the past 4 months I’ve been feeling horrible pressure in my head 24 hours a day, every day. Sometimes it gets better, but recently I started feeling these same sensation in my head, like someone flipped a switch. It’s very strange. I went to an ENT and they didn’t diagnose anything. I had 3 CT scans and nothing showed up. Yesterday I started acupuncture. I felt better, but last night I felt this sensation in my head. I’m not sleeping well. If the acupuncture works, I’ll let you know. Thank you for sharing your story.

Hi
Have you been to an otoneurologist? (Sometimes called neuro-otologist) ? Most regular ENT drs look just for physical defects/symptoms. Migraine can’t be “seen” so they can be reluctant to diagnose it. It certainly sounds like it could be migraine related. The key is to find a migraine specialist who can positively diagnose it and treat it. The only way to be 100% sure I think is to treat for migraine, and if the treatment works - it’s migraine. That’s what happened to me.
Good luck - and don’t worry, you’ll get to the solution eventually. MAV is horrendously horrible to experience, but as far as I’m aware, causes no long term harm so cure/full remission is totally possible.
I got it in 2017 and have been virtually symptom free since 2018.
All the best
Totally agree that the ENTs are looking for something structural that can be surgically corrected - you need to see a neurologist, ideally an oto-neurologist trained in vestibular disorders including vestibular migraine. Am sharing an article on Tinnitus and Migraine which has a great grid showing all of the migraine related conditions – including this “head pressure” that you are experiencing. One of my telltale symptoms is a “grinding tinnitus” in my right ear, and ear pressure/pain when I’m having a flare. Head pressure on the top of my head has also been a telltale sign of my VM. Like you, I’m seeing an “integrative medicine” physician who offers acupuncture and other “non-Western” treatments but I’m convinced they will only be supportive of my care. The inflammation of my trigeminal nerve, for one, has to be interrupted. So I started on Aimovig yesterday - a CGRP mono-clonal antibody - it’s the biggest gun out there. Wish me luck and I will do the same for you.
