reading all this while eating leftover cake of my now 2 year old… . I need to lose 20 pounds and now become diabetic?! hehe
Yeah cake AND diabetes. This disease is awesome!
Effexor even at 37.5 can make you voraciously hungry. One can forget intermittent fasting when all i can do is intermittent eating !
Andy, Search this site. Scott(founder) had the same issue, he says he would wake up with the heart in his mouth feeling in the middle of the night with full on anxiety.
Im with you there vigs…im like pac man on a mission some days. Not quite as greedy as when taking Pizotifen but not far off…ive gsined a stone since last september on it
Jo x
hahaha yes! i dont get full, that is the problem!
That hunger side effect doesn’t fade. I reliably gained 2+lbs a month on Effexor for 13 months. I stopped it four months ago. I haven’t gained any, but I haven’t been able to shift it either.
That alone should point to MAV as a metabolic disorder.
Cheers. Like Scott and others it seams I get crazy dreams. I’m talking vivid Inception style dreams that feel like a 3 hour movie and when I wake I’ve only been asleep for 15 minutes. It’s exhausting!
Are all you guys who are constantly hungry implementing intermittent fasting? I was never full either (before I became ill) but after a 2 week long fasting period where I’d reduce meals down to 3 per day and no snacking to now 2 meals per day… no snacking. It was difficult for those first few weeks but now I actually only eat once per day on a Saturday and / or Sunday easily.
It doesn’t work on the meds. I can fast for long periods of time, but not at all on the meds. Yesterday I fasted with only water for about 19 hours. Easy. But I’m basically off meds (just a beta blocker). Unmedicated, I can do 48 hour water fasts with minimal discomfort after the first 18 hours or so, but never more than 16 hours total on meds and then it’s pure torture. The anti-depressants turn your hunger up to 12 - you never, ever feel satisfied. Fasting and ketosis won’t get you there, even if they should. Those hormones and the cravings they inspire just won’t turn off no matter what you do or how much willpower you supply.
Yeah, me too. I’m curious about how much deep dreamless sleep I get because it sure doesn’t seem like much. Maybe 2-3 hours at the most and then it’s full on bizarre movie time for the rest of the night and yes, it’s exhausting!
GetBetter, thanks so much for the video summary notes and the associated links. So useful when people do that. A very interesting post.
