Is saffron beneficial for our brains?

I have been craving saffron for the past few months and I finally ordered some the other day. It arrived yesterday and I made a saffron dish for lunch. It felt that it had a calming effect on my brain so I did some research on the properties of saffron. Here is an article: https://www.hindawi.com/journals/omcl/2022/8214821/ .

I found the following interesting: “The research results highlighted the various pharmacological potentials such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, cytotoxic, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, antidepressant, hypolipidemic, and antihyperglycemic properties and protector of retinal lesions.”

Three of these could be interesting for our brains, namely antioxidant, neuroprotective and antidepressant. I am wondering - are you using saffron in your cooking and have you felt any positive effects?
