Do neurologists consider the dizziness associated with MAV or MARD apart of auras? If so, if one has dizziness lasting 24/7 for years, is this considered a persistent migraine aura?
According to this study, “http://www.migraine-aura.org/content/e25968/e26078/e26305/index_en.html”
“The symptoms are those of a migrainous visual aura that either recurs repetitively hour-after-hour, day-after-day for weeks, months, or years, or does not abate for weeks, months, or years. Aura symptoms other than visual may be a part of the picture, but so far no one has reported a migraine aura status composed soley of non-visual aura symptoms.does not abate for weeks, months, or years. persistent migraine aura without infarct has only been reported in a handful of patients over the years. It’s considered a truly rare event, and this study highlights the fact that there has been no reported case of a migraine aura with only non-visual symptoms.
For the majority of us, and I use the word, “us” loosely because I don’t know what I have :(… but for the majority of us, our symptoms are constant, and it would seem to call into question if what we are suffering from is truly a migranious event or perhaps the migraine is of a pathophysiology not related to aura. I.E. migraine without aura.
Either way, migraine with aura is associated with cortical spreading depression whereas migraine without aura typically isn’t, and considering CSD is thought to cause brain damage, that might be good news for us.
