Hi Donna,
I’m wishing you lots of luck today and sending lots of positive energy your way!!! I pray your neurologist is familiar with this horrible illness and can get you in the right direction. Effexor seems to be working good for me along with verapamil but it’s kind of early.
Please report back. My prayers and thoughts are wih you.

Good luck Donna! I know that awful feeling way too well myself. It’s so tough and I feel for you. I hope your new Neuro can give you some answers. Let us know how it goes!

Hi Donna,
Let us know how it goes and what he says!

Best of luck!
Thanks everyone for the well wishes for my appt. with the new neuro yesterday. I basically gave him a written summary about what has been happening and then he did a bunch of balance and tests with my eyes yesterday. He feels like my vestibular system, eyes and brain aren’t connecting properly. He wants me to continue with the 30 mg. of Citalopram for now, which I don’t want to do because I’ve been on it 8 weeks and it has done absolutely nothing for me. He also is putting in a 2nd referral to Dr. Baloh at UCLA even though my 1st one was denied. If I can’t get in to see Dr. Baloh, he wants me to try VRT.
I am really more frustrated because I feel like my medical group will deny the 2nd referral to Dr. Baloh and I will have to wait 6 more months before anything new happens. I also don’t know if VRT will help me at all and know absolutely nothing about it.

Hi Donna,
I don’t understand why a referral to Baloh would be denied. What’s that all about?
To suggest you sit on 30 mg of citalopram after 8 weeks with no effect and then try VRT in the meantime sounds like he’s shooting in the dark – as in he has no idea what to do. You could try VRT anyway to see if it has any impact. If it makes you worse, you’ll have another clue that you are dealing with MAV.
Good luck and keep pushing to see Baloh.

Hi Scott,
My medical group doesn’t want me to see Dr. Baloh because he is out of network and they don’t want to pay for it. I will also have to fight them to get VRT from what my primary care physician told me yesterday when I talked to her. It’s going to be lots of fun trying to get this done.
