Hello, I’m not sure if I’m in the right place but looking for a support group for my new condition. It’s been 6 months since my attack. Apparently what I thought were headaches were actually migraines leading up to the attack, I also had insomnia so thought the aura & dizziness were just part of stress so I didn’t immediately seek medical help; I took Advil & tried rest. Then one day, I suddenly had the same symptoms but also confusion & began stuttering. I didn’t know who I was or what was happening to me. My head felt like it would explode & ears ringing. I was rushed to the hospital, they thought it was a stroke & ran multiple tests. My BP & cholesterol were high. And after 6 days there, a neurologist finally diagnosed me with a Hemiplegic Migraine attack with Vestibular Hypertension. I’ve had Speech Therapy twice a week, my speech is finally getting closer to normal. I’m experiencing memory loss & my right ear is still ringing constantly. I’ve been on various meds (Amitriptyline, Escitalopram, Xanax, Doxeprin, Magnesium, Atorvastatin, Amlodipin, Ubrevly, and Quilipta). My Dr says my brain needs to calm & is still trying to reset itself. I had no health issues before this & its been so hard dealing with this ordeal. I went to a ENT doctor recently who found my right ear (the one still ringing) with little loss of hearing but all else normal after doing a hearing test. My Dr is very good but my case at this level is new for her so I’m the experimental rat so to speak on finding how to best manage my condition. My family has been very helpful as well but its frustrating with the disability insurance folks however as they don’t understand my condition or don’t seem to see it as serious. I can’t handle multiple tasks as I used to, its too overwhelming. I use a cane now but the dizziness some days can be more than I can handle because its now like several dizzy blips with tingling throughout day instead of an episode here & there. I’m COVID vaccinated, also a vegetarian/pescatarian for 5 yrs, no soda, sugar, salt, etc. I just want to know if anyone else has a similar experience & how to cope? Any recommendations? Is this the correct support group? Sorry this is long but I appreciate any feedback.
