NEW LED TV and increase in symptoms

I was always a big reality tv fan until mav hit. Idk why but the camera for these shows isn’t as steady and whenever it shakes or abruptly changes angles I feel like I’m about to start spinning.

Me too @Diana21! I like discovery channel and history channel reality shows especially which all seem to have that shakey camera element. Also, one you may get since your US based is Smithsonian Aerial America, oh I loved that show until MAV hit! Now I feel like I’m going to fall off my seat if I watch it.

@Naejohn yesss! Those takes from above do it for me too

Now if I really want to watch anything I do it on my phone, eyes seem to adjust better …funny that that’s not the case for my ebooks anymore, I used to read a lot on my phone or iPad and now I just can’t, that was my most favorite hobby and it’s on complete hold for now

It really doesn’t affect my work. I use the computer glasses which
help tremendously. I find it helps to give my eyes a break from the computer for about 5-10 minutes every 1-2 hours.

Great! Very useful glasses! What glasses do you use if you don’t mind me asking?

Seems a good detailed explanation to me of one example of ‘computer glasses’. I’d be dubious about OTC types. There’s a very brief explanation in the link on the ‘Computer Vision Syndrome’ thread too.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I am going to leave this website open on my desktop so I can access it easily. I am back to work 32 house now but I need to make time to check in daily…so important to my mental health. I bought the indoor theraspecs and I love them. You can buy outdoor too. I watch tv with them on too when I feel that weird flickering motion in my eyes starting,

I also found out what was turned off on our new led tv for people with dizziness/vertigo, There is new technology called “motion smoothing” which is a setting on the new led tv’s that is turned on when you get them. That needs to be turned off. It is adding “extra motion” to an image that originally was not there. It works great for sports and games but some people leave it on all the time. That setting is now off. I don’t need any extra motion while watching tv. I don’t have any issues with vertigo while I watch the tv now.

That’s very interesting. I’m going to have to investigate whether our TV has that setting. Here’s some information about it:

I wonder how long it will be before they come up with a way of ‘motion smoothing’ our hypersensitive brains. Cannot come soon enough for me, Helen

I know. I wish we had an on/off switch for our brains. My symptoms have decreased but I know I am about to be on the verge of an attack when I eat something I shouldn’t of or expose myself to chemicals or bright lighting or loud sounds or too much computer time! The list keeps getting bigger. We really need to be in tune with ourselves to prevent attacks.

Or to find some medication that raises the tolerance thresholds high enough to withstand attacks. I wouldn’t function without preventatives but even with them there are still blips. Helen
