I sent this recipe for Jenny’s naughty Jack Russel, hoping it would help in his training and she loved it so much, i thought I would share it with the rest of you.
As most of you seem to love cats, i’ll also include one for our feline friends:
DOGGIE BISCUITS:
Mix this all together:
1 3/4 c whole wheat flour
1 1/4 c oatmeal
1 T vegetable oil
1 c water
To repel fleas: Add 2 cloves minced fresh garlic, 1 T brewer’s yeast
OR: add 1/4 c peanut butter
OR: add 1 1/4 c grated cheese and 1 tsp rosemary or thyme (i’m sure your dog wouldn’t mind if you skipped the herbs
roll it out onto a greased cookie sheet and cut it into squares with a knife (if you have kids, you could roll it out onto a surface and cut into shapes)
Cook at 300 for 30-45 minutes. Store in an airtight container in cool place.
KITTIE COOKIES:
same deal as above, mix together, roll out onto greased cookie sheet, cut with knife, bake at 350 for 20-22 minutes, store in airtight container in cool place:
1 1/4 c whole wheat flour
1/4 c milk
1 egg
2 T wheat germ
2 T molasses
2 T canola oil
1 tsp dried catnip
cats LOVE these!! of course the last thing you want to do is drive a cat crazy obnoxious with catnip, right?
I was at a Target Store with 4 mentally challenged adults (i work with these folks)…and they wanted to shop. We were in the very back of the target store looking at clothes when all of a sudden the store began to shake like Hell! There was no place to protect ourselves. I honestly thought the Roof was going to come down on us. The quake was centered in Chino HIlls…i live in Diamond bar which is right next store. The quake registered 5.4. But when i was living in San Francisco in 1989…there wasa HUGE quake…i think it was 6.2 or something close to that. That was very scary too. When i got home from work and entered my Studio Apartment…the walls on both sides were buckled. Lots of drinking glasses and a picture had fallen down. My landlord fixed the walls and re-painted my apartment.
Yesterday’s earthquake must have really scared my younger cat “buster”…because when i got home from work he seemed really frightened…but the older cat appeared fine.
Jules, thanks for the recipe, but if my husband saw me going to all that trouble for our new feline friends, he’d think something was amiss. He doesn’t get that much good cooking from me as I lack the innovation and motivation to cook exceptionally (bearing in mind it’s very difficult to please two kids and a hubby at the same time!). I’m sure he’d think he’d fallen further down the pecking order in the family heirachy, he knows he’s already a close 3rd after our two kids and now with two kittens well…could that be 5th!!! Yikes :?
I’ll have to tantalise his tastes with a beautiful meal at our local favourite restaurant, then we’ll all be happy!
Joe, glad to hear you’re safe and sound after the earthquake, hope Buster has settled down now.
That must have been awfully scary. I had an aunt who lived out west and she was caught in a couple of earthquakes. I remember her telling us that she had to stand in doorways and hang on. i also know a woman who was in the earthquakes in Hawaii last year. She thought she was going to die.
God Almighty this thing did a lot more damage than I thought.
How did your clients do?
Did it effect your symptoms?
Your poor cats, they thrive on feeling save in their homes

Hey Judy - maybe you could make the Kitty Cookies for your hubby and then sneak a few to the real kitties! Who knows, the catnip might make him friskie!
Marci - what a crackup! I can see him now… “hey Jude, these cookies are delicious, you must make them again, I love your new cooking style!” I say… “oh Pete, no problemo, but do me a favour and stop purring and rubbing up against my legs!!!” Yikes, I’ll never get away from the ‘greatful’ little kitties and hubby!!
