Pressure athe base of the skull

Does anyone else have pressure at the back of the head when you’re having vertigo or dizziness? This doesn’t seem to be a neck issue but more internal, right at the little sink-in spot at the base of the skull. (Sorry, but I don’t know if there’s actually a name for that area.)

Hey there,

I had head pressure at the base, and top of the skull when my 2nd bout of MAV started. However, the head pressure stuff eventually faded away within a few months. But, I do get pain in the back of the head if I look at a computer too long or watch a movie at the theater.

I had pain/pressure there and sometimes it seemed worse when I would look up. I had it for a few months and then it started to go away.

I had/have intermittent pressure on various spots on the left side of my head. I do have two spots on the back left side where the neck meets the skull and a similar painful spot on the corresponding opposite left side in the front.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies. Mine was worse, too, when this all started. Once it eased up a bit, the vertigo/dizziness improved. I still get it, though, when I’m having an especially off day. Does anyone know if or why there’s a connection to that area?

After a three month period of improvements this spring, I took a severe turn for the worse about a month ago. For about three days leading up to this, I had once again experienced the intermittent pressure on the left side of my head.

All my bad migraines for years were at the base of the back of the skull, the dip that goes in. I was diagnosed with basilar migraine way back then. The bad migraines used to go on for 3 days and it felt like someone had hit me over the back of the head with an iron bar. When I get the vertigo I often feel pressure in that same area.

Thanks for sharing, KennedyLane and cmoc. It always helps to know others have the same symptoms. Has a doctor ever explained that specific pain/pressure to you? My physical therapist and an osteopathic doctor have touched on a connection between that area and eye movement, but no one says why, or even IF, it’s related to the dizziness/disequilibrium/migraine pain.

I think its something to do with this area. It mentions Basilar Migraine. You may need to research further.
