Request for Digestive Enzyme Suggestions

Not wanting to start a new topic, I posted the following about a month ago, but it remains unanswered, so I thought I would start a new topic to see if anyone had any advice/suggestions in this area. I’ve also done multiple searches prior to starting a new topic.

I’m new to this discussion, and may be in the wrong place, so feel free to steer me elsewhere.

I searched on digestive enzymes because after 4 months on the HYH diet and multiple medication trials, I need something to help with digestion.

I’m allergic to dairy since I was an infant. I’m also allergic to fresh pineapple - enzyme used in some digestive aids. Both have caused anaphylactic shock that have landed me in the ER on occasion. I carry an EpiPen.

Prior to going on HYH diet, I would try to increase healthy bacteria in my gastrointestinal tract using kombucha, pickles, sauerkraut, etc… Unfortunately, none of these non-dairy digestive options are allowed.

I’ve read the posts about the Bioset doctor in SF, but I’m not looking for an expensive alternative medicine approach. I’m glad to hear of other folks success with this approach.

My primary care physician puts me on Biocodex Florastor Florastorplus after I have to take antibiotics. It is expensive, but at least my doctor recommends it, so I am confident that I am not wasting my money.

My issue with many natural supplements is that they are expensive, not covered by insurance, and are hit or miss on whether they work.

Some side notes: I do shell out the money for magnesium, riboflavin, vitamin D, C and B complex as well as a multivitamin. I use a lot of fennel, anise, ginger and other calming spices and teas. For cruciferous vegetables: I limit portion sizes, cook them in an Instapot, or run them through my Nutribullet Rx to break them down but still preserve some nutrients and balance with quinoa. I avoid refined sugar. I’ve recently tried gluten free to see if that will help.

Does anyone have any non-dairy suggestions for digestive enzymes (DAO, pre/probiotics) that are HYH diet compliant and are not overly expensive?

I have tried these ones before and liked them: BioCeuticals
I am in Australia, so I am not sure whether you can get them where you are. They contain bromelain, which may be a problem with your pineapple allergy.

I used this when treating Candida. Not sure it’s exactly what you’re looking for, but it certainly did the job.

Thank you everyone. My doctor wants me on a daily probiotic (Florastor) initially, following my massive amount of meds administered to treat the intractable migraine.

If that does not help my digestive issues then I will keep this list to review at a future appointment.
