Spinning and headaches

Does anyone ever have spinning and headaches? I never do. I get less headaches then most “normal” people (not counting a stiff neck at times). I also have never experienced actual spinning. Do most people here experience these symptoms or not?

Yes, I have a headache almost every day (but not a migraine). My actual migraine headaches have been few and far between. I have experienced several attacks of severe, hours long, unable to move vertigo. We are all different in the way out symptoms show.

Mine is weird. Either I’m dizzy or have head pressure/headache - usually not @ the same time. I don’t spin but I sure get lightheaded on any quick movement.

For the past couple of years I am rarely without a headache, it is basically always there and can range anywhwere from a 2 to an 8 at any given time(a 10 would be like when I had a septoplasty). Thankfully the spins(true vertigo) does not happen that often anymore, maybe once every four months. The
rocking/unsteadiness comes and goes.

Hi Book,

I’d like you to rethink whether your daily headaches are migraine or not. I used to have headaches nearly everyday too and always considered them to be “tension” headaches. Since I had experienced more typical knock down miserable migraine headaches, I assumed the daily mild/moderate headaches couldn’t possibly be migraine too. I’ve come to believe differently for two reasons. For one, after reading Heal Your Headache I realized many headaches commonly thought to be some other type are actually migraine, and two, Zonegran wiped out my daily headaches. It doesn’t seem logical to me that an anti-seizure med being taken for migraine prevention could eliminate “tension” headaches when I still experience the same stress and neck tension as before. I now believe my milder daily headaches were just another manifestation of migraine for me.

If you find your headaches to be bothersome to you and especially if you have the “bowling ball” head symptom too, I suggest you talk to your doctor about trying Zonegran (zonisamide is the generic form). Topamax also helped these symptoms for me, but I couldn’t handle the side effects of Topamax.

Take care,

Marci

Marci,
What is the “bowling ball” head symptom? I haven’t heard of that before.

That is a term I picked up on this forum. Some of the others use it to describe a heavy-headed feeling - like a bowling ball sitting on your shoulders. I don’t actually use that decription myself, I just assumed you might relate since it seems to be a pretty common description here. I actually used to describe the feeling I had as if someone with a huge hand were constantly grabbing and pushing down on the top of my head. It wasn’t painful, just annoying. Fortunately, that symptom went away along with the headaches after I started taking Zonegran.

I can honestly say that my headaches do not cooridnate with my dizzyness.

I have headaches and dizziness, but not spinning. If I have a headache/migraine, my dizziness is ALWAYS worse.
