Telcagepant trial looks interesting

I don’t think it’s preventative…it’s an abortive med from what I gather. Still good for those who get the migraine pain/headaches.

Hi Kel,
I believe triptans are dangerous for MAVers due to the drug further constricting blood vessels (stroke risk) telcagepant doesn’t act in the same way, so therefore could be used in a chronic patient. It aopears to act similarly to blood pressure meds (keeping the blood vessels open).

They say it also stops phonophobia and photophobia.
Clinical trials are starting again; they stoped the trial due to kidney issues.
