■Anxiety disorders. Certain anxiety disorders, such as panic attacks and a fear of leaving home or being in large, open spaces (agoraphobia), may cause dizziness. Sometimes one cause — such as a vestibular disorder — may produce symptoms, but then anxiety causes your dizziness to persist even after your inner ear problem has resolved.

Hi
I can totally relate…it was like once my anxiety was triggered, then it never turned back off. The meds for MAV are good for anxiety as well, as most of it stems from neurotransmittion malfunction of sorts…a benzo for short term use or SSRI for long term use is first line treatment. You can also try Buspar, which has relatively low side effects, and for some people it works quite well.

jrm – have a look at this article on MAV and anxiety. They call it MARD.

Thanks Scott - very interesting article. I’ll see what all happens this week with BAER test to rule out the bad stuff and then try to get over my fear of meds. I wish i could get a diagnosis though.

jrm – did you have a bad previous experience with a med at all? Trying to work out how we can help you to deal with the fear somehow. It might just be a new way of thinking about this – a different angle – that will settle your nerves about it all.

I do recall when I took my first dose of Zoloft in 2004, I sort of sat down with my then GF in front of a picture of the medicine Buddha and made some sort of prayer (I know – totally uncharacteristic for me but I was desperate) before I swallowed the first dose. So I wasn’t exactly at ease with it all. Zoloft wasn’t a good time for me but I soldiered on and swapped meds until I felt fine which did happen quickly. It was a HUGE relief to feel better.

Snort.

But to prove I’m not living in a glass house - I have ‘asked the universe’ things in my past.

I am a little Claustophibic (spelled) but i have no problems with Wide Open Spaces. Infact, the wide open spaces makes me feel very calm inside.

I was totally gone. I would have prayed to a pound of butter back then for relief or eaten a bag of charcoal if I knew it would work! LOL

Praise be Allowrie, the God of butter.

You guys are too funny. I’m gonna need to do something for sure. there has to be something to help whether i have MaV or just anxiety of some sort i can’t live like this any more. I woke up feeling really horrible this morning - i am shaking all over and pressure in the head and congested. I managed to fill my house with smoke yesterday by burning chicken and i have asthma and allergies so i think that probably made everything worse.

Yesterday was not bad but here i am again feeling horrible. Of course we are geting close to the workweek and there is lots of anxiety that goes along with that!!!

thanks all for responding!!!
