Verapamil and nortriptyline

Anyone taken both of these at the same time?

I’ve never taken Nori, but I took Verapamil and Amitriptyline (very similar to Nortriptyline) together… why do you ask?

I was just told from my specialist to combine them but then i checked my med checked and it said it can cause moderate interactions but just wanted to know people’s experiences with mixing trycyclic with verap thanks

It’s always good to check, but a lot of times doctors already know the possible interactions and aren’t worried about them. IIRC, I was on 50mg of amitriptyline and 160mg of Verapamil… something like that. It has been a number of years since I was on that combo. I’m not sure what the equivalent dose of nortriptyline would be. My dosage of amitriptyline was open ended too - I just started with the lowest dose and increase by 10mg if I wasn’t getting any relief on that after awhile. Hopefully the combo works out well for you!

I take 10mg Nortriptyline at night and 240mg SR Verapamil in the morning, I’ve been doing this for almost 4 weeks and it has made a huge difference. The past week I’ve had only one day of rocking and the tinnitus is averaging a 3 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the worse). Nortriptyline alone increased my heart rate too much so the Verapamil keeps my heart rate down to my normal resting around 68-71 bpm. I don’t like taking one drug to counteract another but in this case it seems to be well worth it.
