Covid Vaccine

I reacted badly to each dose of AZ given earlier in the year and was rather hoping perhaps I’d get away with the Pzifer booster without problems. With everybody talking about ā€˜booster doses’ as if they were different from the regular jabs I had high hopes but in fact a ā€˜booster’ is simply another full shot of the standard dose. The only exception to this by my understanding being the Moderna. So far, and it’s only Day Four, I’ve had a severely red and inflamed injection site made worse because the nurse managed to break a blood vessel whilst administrating the jab although I did not actually realise that until a doctor I was seeing about another matter said, The antihistamine cream helps immensely. Apart from that I had some shivery fever type stuff and felt much like flu (headache etc) for two days which seems to have more or less gone but since the end of Day Two I’ve noticed it has started up the vestibular stuff, ā€˜rocking’ etc and swimmy stuff on any head movement. I was never a ā€˜rocker’ and when this happened after the second AZ jab it took several weeks to settle. Currently the reaction hasn’t confined me to bed but not sure where it’s heading now going to get better or worse. Only time will tell.

I am very sorry to hear that your vestibular symptoms have flared up. I hope that they settle very soon! The good thing is that, from what I read, AZ combined with Moderna seems to give a very good protection against covid.

Let’s hope the same applies to AZ and Pzifer because that’s what I’ve had. I’ve reacted to every dose so far but first dose only gave me the predicted 48 hour flu-type symptoms common to many and had no adverse effect on the vestibular stuff at all. From what I understand once you react to one it’s more than probable you will continue to react to future doses. And it looks as though regular boosters are the way of the future. Let’s just hope they work against the new emerging variants.

I have a similar experience to report. I have had MAV for many years and a few weeks after my second covid shot there was a sharp increase in severity. That was over seven months ago and I am still trying to put the genie back in the bottle.

I sought out Pfizer over Moderna b/c by that point it was clear that it was the weaker of the two vaccines. I waited eight weeks between shots. Had I known then what I know now I would have waited even longer, as my risk for hospitalization has always been low, based on age and risk factors.

I am happy, though, to have the protection of the two shots and to have done my part to help put an end to this awful pandemic. If anyone else had a prolonged negative reaction please feel free to share.

You’re very brave to take on the Vax-Lovers on here. I wouldn’t even bother conversing with them to be honest. If they don’t see it now they never will. You know what page I am on. The ignorance continues unabated.

I see now where Pfizer and Moderna are petitioning the FDS in the USA for a second booster. Since the federal government pays the drug companies for the boosters I’m thinking this has to be their biggest cash cow they have ever had. What other product would you be able to market that the government would require you to take it and the government would pay for it. It’s an even better deal than Obamacare was for the insurance companies, except there is absolutely no liability.

I took the first three, but not the fourth. Too much evidence is coming out about heart muscle damage and even Dr. Robert Malone, the guy that was on the MRNA developmental delivery team, opposes the way the CDC and FDA ramrodded the approval process through.

Dr. Robert Malone

The main fear of the vaccine at this point is what is it doing to our bodies besides protecting us from COVID? We already know about Myocarditis and Periocarditus but what else is waiting in the weeds, so to speak, to be discovered years down the road?

At this point, the FDA’s and CDC’s reputations have been damaged beyond repair in my eyes, and I suspect in the eyes of others as well. I always thought they would protect the masses from disease at the expense of sacrificing a handful of early infected patients while the learned about the disease. I never thought they would put the whole country at risk to an unproven and untested vaccine so they could ram it through under political pressure.

If my post has turned too political and needs to be removed from the board, I understand. This is not what I originally came here to talk about.

Your post is fine. These are serious concerns, no matter where you stand on the efficacy of the vaccines?

I particularly worry about the amount of political coercion that a lot of so-called democracies placed upon their populations. This was aided and abetted by significant entities in the media. Even one of my friends dismissed ā€œinformed consentā€ saying to me ā€œoh well there have been vaccine mandates in the pastā€ … as if that was any excuse, they used to burn people claimed to be witches too, but we don’t do that any more?!

I would only ask (@AntofBlackpool), let’s try not to make this too much of a confrontational them-and-us, we must be respectful of everyone’s opinion. Vaccines are a reasonable concept, but in this context the execution appears to be sub-optimal? That doesn’t make pro-vaccine people wrong, but it’s surely a critical nuance?

It seems to me that the authorities seemed to have initially forgotten to leverage natural immunity, especially amongst the younger population. Time seems to have proved that it’s impossible to control the proliferation of new variants and ultimately our own immune systems are our best defence?

I have had zero vaccines and dealt with the recent Omicron surge with a couple of days in bed, wearing a mask in shops and spending as much time alone as possible. After 3 weeks I am completely fine and healthy and no risk to anyone! I exercised personal responsibility. Authorities could do more to promote responsible behaviour without going over-board. I caught it from my wife who had been exposed to someone coughing like crazy in a dance class she attended. Simple rule: if you are coughing do not go out to events in enclosed spaces, even if there is no formal lockdown and rules in place? It’s common sense and considerate, no? Otherwise you are being a selfish idiot!

In China they have gone completely crazy and nothing makes sense. They lock down healthy people in their apartment blocks at risk of starvation, financial ruin and mental breakdown in the face of a virus that is no danger to the population. The population are their own worst enemy with some people more keen to commit suicide instead of risking their life fighting the authorities? You get the government you don’t stand up to fight. Then they demand people queue up in crowds to get tested with no social distancing and then wonder why people are catching the virus? The authorities wear plastic PPE which no doubt gets thrown away daily, can you just imagine the plastic pollution?

I think the biggest issue for me is the vaccines appear to lag the penetration of the virus in the population, potentially making them redundant as people have already been exposed to the variant before the booster arrives. This was highlighted by, of all people Bill Gates who was a bit of a vaccine hawk initially.

The challenge for the authorities is they need to get the new vaccines out there in under 100 days from initial appearance of a new variant: extremely challenging! And as you say this must mean that sometimes the resulting vaccine is somewhat experimental as that does not provide much time to get feedback for efficacy and associated risks?

Looks like I missed this whole thread as I’ve been offline for a while… Ha well I’ll chime in super late then in case anyone cares! I ended up getting both shots and the booster (Pfiser). The 2nd shot and booster shot made me feel awful, but no increase in MAV symptoms. I mostly decided to get vaccinated mostly because of peer pressure (working in healthcare) and estimating that my risk of serious side effects were low (still a bit of a gamble). Of course when I got vaccinated they were saying that this would help stop the spread of COVID, which turned out mostly untrue… so yeah a bit jaded on that one… the CDC definitely gets a D, maybe C- from me on how they handled everything. We still have a CDC flier up in our washroom (old) that says the CDC does not recommend wearing a mask if you are feeling well. How could the premier authority on infectious diseases not know that wearing a mask was helpful in the beginning. Then again, how could they then do a complete 180 overnight and claim that it was key to stopping the spread (while it seems clear that masks are only slightly helpful). This could have even made things worse as people put too much faith in masks. I recall people applauding people who wear masks going to disneyland. Uhh… if you are that worried about COVID why are you going to disneyland in the first place? I’m not against it personally, but if you are so scared of COVID that you demand others wear a mask, why are you going to disneyland??? I have very little trust in the CDC at this point. Keep your thinking cap on and do your own research I say!

I was never personally that afraid of getting Covid either, again due to no prexisting conditions, not being overweight, and being fairly young / healthy (despite history of MAV…) However, my father in-law refused to get vaccinated despite us trying to convince him. If I were his age I’d have no doubts about taking it. He seems to be fine though (fingers crossed) and doesn’t really have any prexisting conditions other than being slightly overweight. However I had a step-grandmother die from COVID before the vaccines were available (prexisting condition + overweight). And recently my car mechanic nearly died from it (preexisting condition + overweight). He was in the hospital for 30 days… I didn’t have the guts to ask him if he was vaccinated or not after what he’d been through.

We decided not to vaccinate my 6 year old son due to myocarditis risk and the fact that covid risk for kids is almost zero. For a girl I don’t know, might have been worth it, but if the risk is similar to driving her to school why should we care??? Anyways, I think its great to have independent thinking on this highly politicized topic. There are a lot of people just trying to figure out the truth. I don’t like to judge anybody: your body, your family, your choice.

Agreed, if 20th century history is any lesson, less coercion should make us better off. Let’s at least try to get through a whole century without tyrannical governments killing 100+ million people. And the history lesson is that they typically start non-tyrannical and with ā€œgood intentionsā€ . Lord Acton I think said ā€œPower corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutelyā€, or something like that. So yeah gotta be careful…

hello, I have a small history of migraines starting age 20-30 I maybe had 10 migraines. I received 3 covid vaccines, after my booster shot in november I started to develop horrible neurological symptoms. At the time I did not think much of it with the connection to the vaccine, however I have recently been diagnosed with autoimmune encephalitis post vaccination.
The symptoms progressed for me as follows:

  • First debilitating migraines that persisted for 2.5 months daily with no relief, some of the worst pain I have ever had in my life, I could not eat, sleep or get out of bed
  • Visual aura that I has last for over 3 months
  • body twitches all day for months, all over my body
  • ear rining
  • tingling/ numbness
  • horrible fatigue
  • hair loss

After seeing a neurologist at mass general hospital in boston with little to no answers I sought out a second opinion. I was able to meet with a neurologist out of Yale who told me that patients are having major neurological symptoms post vaccination. I did a cytokine blood panel and my markers were through the roof indicating I have autoimmune encephalitis from the covid vaccine. It is possible for anyone to experiencing these symptoms but more likely for those who have pervious neurological issues (migraine ext).
I would urge you to explore the cytokine blood panel although many doctors are not aware of it yet. There is treatment if you had a severe onset of neurological symptoms post vaccination that do not seem to have any other cause.

Lauren,

Best of luck to you.

I had my booster vaccine (Pfizer) last Tuesday. I felt very tired on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday. I was also a bit dizzy on both days. I spent both days at home, sleeping a lot. I felt better on Thursday and back to ā€œnormalā€ on Friday.

Hello Katharina did you get your first booster or is this your 2nd? I’m due for my 2nd but I am scared to make my MAV symptoms worse since I am currently experience bad symptoms.

I was late in getting my vaccines because we had very low Covid numbers in Queensland (Australia) where I live. So it was my first booster. And I had waited for six months after my second jab before getting it.
