My visual field is tilted/slanted... Anyone else have this?

Hello,

I have been experiencing tilted vision for 2 years.

I feel dizzy every day and I have headaches.

My eyes are sensitive to light.

Unfortunately, the doctors have not been able to help me, and all my test results have come back negative.

From my experience, I would be very cautious with medication. In my case, it made things worse, not better. Many people will quickly label your symptoms as just anxiety and suggest anxiety medication as the solution. But not everything is anxiety. Sometimes there may be a neurological or vestibular issue that deserves proper investigation instead of being dismissed. Before jumping into medication, I would encourage trying more natural approaches, such as vestibular rehabilitation, improving sleep, reducing stress, exercising regularly, and making meaningful lifestyle changes. Medication can help some people, but it should not be the only path, especially when your body may be asking for a different kind of care.

I have had fixed tiled vision for around 6-7 years. One Neurologist called it visual aura the other tilted vision. I have problems with my central nervous system, its hyper-sensitive. No idea whether the 2 are connected. I have had other nerve problems over the years, carpal tunnel & sciatica. I have loss of some feelings in my fingertips, soles of my feet and face.

I only just clicked on, the drivers on the roads are not the problem, it’s me! I can’t judge the distances too well! I have sometimes been driving with my window down so I can pull my wing mirror in, when needed :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m just about done with the crappy NHS, they do not like to spend money on the people! I manage my symptoms with no meds and no doctor input, it’s less stress which makes my life easier!

Probably didn’t help but, I am still alive after quite a few years with tilted vision!

Don’t be scared!

I had scans/ MRI’s etc, all came back normal! I have an over sensitive central nervous system, I feel pain way more than I should, also fatigue. They call it Fibromyalgia. Reality is, I had chronic pain from a rotor cuff injury, doctors left me in agony for 21 months before he would make a referral ( I actually shouted at him ) to an Orthopaedic. Just 10 minutes with the Orthopaedic and he found my rotor cuff injury by ultrasound!! My own research into what causes Fibromyalgia led me to long term chronic pain! My tilted vision came around the same time as my Fibromyalgia. They are both central nervous system problems. I don’t see it as two separate things, that is too much of a coincidence.

So much Fibromyalgia around, I think chronic stress, anxiety have the same affect on peoples central nervous system, it makes it work overtime. It’s why so many people are getting fibromyalgia. My GP caused my fibromyalgia! Had he of sent me to the Orthopaedic earlier, my problem would have been resolved earlier.

So much bs around when trying to find out what causes Fibromyalgia, they know what causes it but won’t say! I had to dig deep! Same with MS, they say they don’t know, I found some that tell the truth. Our nerves are protected by a ring of fat called myelin sheath. We are told fat is bad for us, what do you think happens when we don’t eat fat? Bit obvious really. Our brains are 60% fat, mostly cholesterol then saturated fat. Same thing, what happens if we don’t replace the fat? Animal fat is not the enemy, cooking/ seed oils are. I only use butter now. Carnivore diet is the way to go, no carbs, sugar or oils. Put carnivore into YouTube search bar, do the same for iodine, magnesium, vitamin D3, NAC.

We are just cash cows for the food/ pharmaceutical industry. When we can no longer work, they do not want to help us!

How did it go at the hospital?

Are you feeling better now ? How long did the tilt sensation last ? What do you think helped you recover the most ?

Hi Ernie,

I was diagnosed with Tilted Vision by a Neurologist & Visual Aura by another Neurologist. My tilted vision is still the same, I don’t think it will go away. I was prescribed Amitriptyline by one Neurologist, did nothing. The other Neurologist prescribed duloxetine, same, no change. I stopped taking as side effects were not worth it. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by a Rheumatologist, did my research and it’s a central nervous system problem, as is tilted vision. So, my central nervous system is damaged. I actually thought Fibromyalgia was a made up ā€˜disease’ by doctors but now I know it’s real.

I only just clicked on that tilted vision affects my driving, I have been concentrating more on my pain control without meds. I have done some research about different things and found a clinic near me that does Shockwave treatment, I had this for carpel tunnel years ago and it worked. I have read up on it and it has some success with damaged central nervous systems.

What kind of doctors have you seen?

My tilted vision started two and a half years ago, and I had been learning to live with it. When I saw a psychiatrist for anxiety, he said the tilt was psychological and prescribed five medications. After I started taking them, my condition worsened considerably. My vision declined, and I developed severe dry mouth and eye dryness, which only began after the medication. These issues were not present before his treatment. I was clearly better beforehand, and I regret going. Now I feel like I’ve lost hope.

If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to be cautious with psychiatrists. They often prescribe multiple medications for an already sensitive central nervous system and tend to attribute everything to psychological causes.

Don’t lose hope!

It’s a shame we have to learn to live with things, my learning to live with things, means I avoid doing certain things.

5 different medications! I had no idea Brazil was like this! Your anxiety was due to your real health problem, not general anxiety! I was anxious, who wouldn’t be with so much cancer around! I’m still anxious but only about doing certain things that my health problems make difficult. Dry eyes and dry mouth are common with medications, dry mouth can cause gum/ tooth problems due to lack of saliva. I had read the book ā€˜Too Many Pills’ before I got sick so I understood why, some doctors prescribe some medications, it’s just greed from doctors receiving payments from pharmaceuticals. Made me cautious. I had 3 different types of meds prescribed by 2 different neurologists and a rheumatologist, none of them did anything so I stopped.

I’m not 100% but I think my long term chronic pain led to my messed up nervous system, it does do that, plenty on the net says that and the explanation is logical and makes sense. I do not engage with any doctors now, no trust or faith!

I agree! I have always watched documentaries. I remember watching one about shrinks, it was about them dishing out pills that affect the brain, without first giving patients a CT or MRI to see whether there were any lesions, ie physical problems. That should actually be law but of course it won’t be! Anti depressants mess with the nervous system as well, that’s what they are for. Who knows whether they damage the nervous system. I find it weird that Fibromyalgia affects mainly women, women seem to get lumbered with anxiety/ depression and get stuck on pills. I have learnt that if you do not have enough vitamin D3 in your system, you can’t manage problems/ situations as well as a person who takes it regularly. Your body’s reaction is depression. A doctor won’t tell you this. So many health problems are down to food, lack of minerals etc and environment.

The real sick people are the ones just dishing out meds for no good reason!

In Brazil, it’s common to see psychiatrists jump straight to medication. There is a tendency to treat everything as a psychiatric issue and prescribe several drugs at once. The pharmaceutical industry plays a role by offering benefits such as trips and sponsored events, and doctors often have large amounts of free samples in their offices.

Pharmaceuticals give money to ā€œdoctorsā€ for prescribing their medications. In Britain, we have the NHS, pharmaceuticals overcharge the NHS for medications. Some medications cost peanuts to produce but they charge the NHS a lot more. Been going on for decades, with government’s approval. Governments ( they are corporations) also receive money from corporations like pharmaceuticals, food industry etc.

The link is showing how much ā€œdoctorsā€ make from pharmaceuticals. They even prescribe drugs that do not work!
