Hi I’ve been looking at this forum for a while but never posted before today. I was diagnosed with vestibular migraine about 4 years ago after having vertigo episodes for about 4 years before that. ENT were useless until I got a referral to a large city hospital who ran a series of tests and diagnosed VM after excluding other things. I also got PPPD 6 years ago before my VM diagnosis and that was horrible. I was treated with SSRI’s and cbt and I got better after about 6 months but I also improved my lifestyle factors like alcohol, stress and meditation. I have tried amitriptyline and propranolol as a migraine preventer but the side effects were awful and didn’t help the VM so on no medication now. The VM is episodic rather than chronic so I can manage the episodes when they happen. I’m much calmer and accepting about them now and I know stress and anxiety are triggers. I’m exploring the mind body connection and the role of the nervous system at the moment and I do believe a deregulated nervous system is what’s behind the medically unexplained VM and dizziness symptoms. I think we all have to find what works for us through trial and error and it sucks that we have these conditions for years and the medical experts aren’t really that interested in helping.
